Heads up! Before we dive in, make sure you’ve got your tools ready. If you hit a snag, don’t sweat it! You can always schedule a repair with the pros.
Follow this hip guide to swap out the plastic midframe. Get ready to bring your device back to life with some flair!
Step 1
You can totally nail the next four steps without a plastic opening tool, but hey, if you want to keep those clips in tip-top shape, using one might just be your best bet!
– Wedge a plastic opening tool or your fingernail into the crevice at the top of the phone, right where the rear case meets the body.
– With a gentle twist of the tool, pop open the clips that keep the top of the rear case snugly fit.
Step 2
– Glide your plastic opening tool to the left along the top edge and give it another twist to crank up the space between the rear case and the phone.
Step 3
– Keep grooving with the plastic opening tool around the top left corner’s edge, playfully lifting it along the rear case.
Step 4
– Gently wiggle your pry tool along the top right edge and shimmy it down the right side of the rear case. Keep going, you’re doing great!
Step 5
You might have to give the case a little shimmy and shake to unclip it from the bottom of the phone. Keep at it, you’re doing great!
– Hoist the rear case off the phone and wave it goodbye!
Step 6
– No fancy tools needed for this step—just use your finger to get things started.
– Pop a plastic opening tool into the tiny notch right above the battery.
– Give the battery a little nudge and pry it out of its hidey-hole.
Step 8
– Nudge the SIM card a tad deeper into its slot using your fingernail until you hear a satisfying click.
– Once you hear that click, let go of the card and watch it spring out of its slot like a toaster’s toast!
– For putting it back together, just push the SIM card into the slot until you hear that reassuring click again.
Step 9
– Give that SIM card a gentle nudge with your thumb to slide it out just enough to get a good grip on it.
– Now grab that little escape artist of a SIM card and smoothly pull it out of the phone.
Step 10
– Give that microSD card a gentle nudge deeper into its cozy slot with your fingernail until you hear a satisfying click.
– Once you’ve heard that click, let go and watch the card spring out like a jack-in-the-box!
– When putting it back together, just press the microSD card back in until it clicks, like snapping a Lego piece into place.
Step 11
– Give that microSD card a gentle nudge with your thumb to slide it out of its cozy slot.
– Lift the microSD card out of the phone and wave it goodbye!
Step 12
– Unscrew the ten 4.0 mm Phillips screws that are keeping the midframe attached to the front panel assembly.
Step 13
The midframe just lightly clicks into place—like a gentle high-five from your phone. You can pop it off with just a whisper of effort!
– Get a grip on the left side of the plastic midframe using your thumb and forefinger, and gently lift it off the phone like you’re opening a treasure chest!
