DIY Tutorial: MacBook Pro 15 Battery Replacement Guide

Ready to swap out that old battery? If you notice it’s looking a bit puffy, just make sure to take the right safety steps. Let’s get that device back on the road!

Step 1

– Time to get your screwdriver ready! Unscrew those ten little screws that are holding the lower case snugly against the upper case. Let’s get this party started!

Step 2

– Hold on tight with both hands and lift the bottom case near the vent to pop it off the two clips holding it down to the upper case.

– Take off the lower case and set it aside.

Step 3

– Unscrew those two 5-Point Pentalobe screws at the top edge of the battery and let’s get this party started!

Step 4

– Use the tip of a spudger to lift up the corner of the ‘Warning: Do not remove the battery’ sticker while you take out the third five-point Pentalobe screw hidden underneath. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair

Step 5

– Gently lift the battery by its nifty plastic pull tab and slide it smoothly away from the long edge of the upper case. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair

Step 6

– Gently tilt the battery back to get to the battery cable connector.

– Pull the battery cable connector from its socket on the logic board and lift the battery out of the upper case. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
