Step 5

– Hey there! Let’s kick things off by taking out these cool 6 screws:

Step 6

– Unscrew the four Phillips screws on the port side of your computer and let the adventure begin!

Step 7

– Give your computer a little twist and turn it 90 degrees! Now, let’s get those two Phillips screws at the back out of there.

Step 8

– Give your computer a little twist—rotate it 90 degrees once more! Now, let’s get those four Phillips screws on the side unscrewed like a pro.

Step 9

– Start by gently lifting the rear of the case and let your fingers dance along the sides, working to free the case as you go. Once you’ve liberated the sides, you might need to give the case a little wiggle up and down to release the front of the upper case. This part can be a bit of a puzzle, so take your time. Just remember, there are 4 tabs over the DVD reader that pull out vertically, so keep an eye on those!

– Keep in mind that the two tiny tongues on the left side of the front of the upper case might get a little bendy while you’re removing it. No worries! When you’re putting it back together, you might have to gently straighten them out to fit nicely into the grooves on the lower case.

Step 10

– Let’s start by gently disconnecting the trackpad and keyboard ribbon cable from the logic board. Feel free to peel off any tape that might be in the way!

– Now, it’s time to carefully remove the upper case. You’ve got this!

Step 11

– Grab your trusty spudger and gently lift the brown plastic flap that’s keeping the left ambient light sensor cable snug against the logic board.

– Now, give that left ambient light sensor cable a little nudge to the left and slide it right out of its connector.
