– Unscrew the trio of identical Phillips screws holding the memory door secure. Remember, righty-tighty, lefty-loosey!
– Keep a log of which screws came from which spots. It’s like a puzzle; you’ll thank yourself during the reassembly party!

– Gently hoist the memory door just enough to get a good grip on it, then slide it towards you and whisk it away from the casing like a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat!

– Unscrew the two Phillips screws chilling in the battery compartment near the latch.

Take it easy when removing the upper case! It’s connected to the logic board with a ribbon cable, so give it a gentle touch.
– Start by lifting the rear end of the case and shimmy your fingers along the edges to loosen it up. Keep going until the sides are free, then you might have to wiggle the case a bit up and down to release the front end of the upper case. Hang in there, as this part can be a bit of a wrestle. Just above the DVD reader, watch out for 4 sneaky tabs that need to be pulled out vertically.
– Heads up! The two tiny flaps on the front left of the upper case might get a bit bent out of shape during the removal process. No sweat—when putting it back together, you might just have to give them a little tweak to make sure they slip back into the grooves on the lower case.

– Unplug the trackpad and keyboard ribbon cable from the logic board, peeling off any tape that gets in your way.
– Whisk away the upper case.

– Grab your trusty spudger and give those black plastic flaps a gentle flip to unlock the ribbon cables for the keyboard and its snazzy backlight. It’s like lifting the lid on a treasure chest!

– Gently pull back the black protective cover on the right side of the upper case. No need to take it off completely—just lift it enough to reveal the screws hiding underneath.

– Gently pull back the black protective sheath on the left side of the upper case—no need to take it off completely. Just reveal those hidden screws enough to work your magic!

– Unscrew the ten super cool Phillips screws that are keeping the keyboard snug as a bug in the casing.

– Check out the first image where the tab is chilling in the ‘locked’ position, and then see it switch to the ‘unlocked’ position in the second image. Magic!
– Grab some needlenose pliers or a spudger and show those four tabs some love by bending each one to the ‘unlocked’ position. You got this!

If the keyboard ribbon seems stuck, just give it a little nudge while making sure the black plastic flap holding it in place is standing tall.
– Gently slide the keyboard ribbon out of its connector. Handle with care!
– When reattaching the keyboard to the upper case, make sure to thread the keyboard ribbon cable and the backlight ribbon cable through the slots in the upper case. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
