How to Replace iPad 5 Wi-Fi LCD – Step-by-Step Guide
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 34 Steps
Hey there repair rockstar! Before you get zapping with that battery blocker, just remember – make like a ninja and handle it with care!
Follow this guide to swap out the LCD on an iPad 5. Handle with care when isolating the battery using a battery blocker—the contacts are fragile and can be easily damaged, leading to irreversible harm to the logic board. If you decide to go ahead without isolating the battery, steer clear of metal tools unless absolutely necessary (like for removing screws) to avoid shorting the battery and damaging sensitive circuit components. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 1
– Get the iOpener nice and toasty, then gently place it on the left side of your device for a cool two minutes.

Step 2
– While you’re letting that adhesive take its sweet time to loosen up, keep an eye on these areas that are a bit touchy when it comes to prying:
Step 3
In the next three steps, we’ll show you how to use the Anti-Clamp, our nifty little tool designed to make opening your device a breeze. If you’re not rocking the Anti-Clamp, no worries! Just skip ahead three steps for a different approach.
– Give that blue handle a gentle tug back to release the Anti-Clamp’s arms—it’s like giving it a little hug!
– Slide something under your iPad so it sits nice and flat between the suction cups—think of it as a cozy bed for your device.
– Place the suction cups close to the center of the left edge—one on top and one on the bottom, like a perfect little sandwich.
– Keep the bottom of the Anti-Clamp steady and give a firm press down on the top cup to create some suction magic!
Step 4
– Give that blue handle a gentle tug forward to lock those arms in place!
– Now, twist the handle a full 360 degrees, or until those suction cups start to stretch just right.
– Keep an eye on those suction cups and make sure they’re playing nice together. If they start to get out of line, just loosen them up a bit and realign those arms.
Step 5
– Take a breather for a minute to let that adhesive loosen up and create a little gap for you.
– If your screen isn’t warming up enough, feel free to grab a hair dryer and gently warm up the left edge of your iPad.
– Once the Anti-Clamp has done its magic and there’s a nice gap, slide an opening pick under the digitizer.
– Go ahead and skip the next step.
Step 6
– First things first, let’s warm up that screen until it’s cozy to the touch! Once it’s feeling nice and toasty, grab a suction handle and stick it on the left edge of the screen, as close to the edge as you can get.
– Now, gently lift the screen using the suction handle to create a little gap between the digitizer and the frame. Just a small one will do!
– Next up, slide an opening pick into that gap you just made between the digitizer and the frame. You’re doing great!
If your screen is looking like it just survived a rock concert, don’t worry! Slapping on a layer of clear packing tape might just do the trick to help that suction cup stick. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also try using some super strong tape instead of the suction cup. And if things get really tricky, a little superglue on the suction cup can help it cling to that cracked screen. Remember, if you need help, you can always schedule a repair!

Step 7
No worries if you spot the opening pick peeking through the digitizer — just give it a gentle tug and pull it out. Your LCD screen should be just fine, but be mindful of any sticky adhesive that might be left behind. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair!
– Pop a second opening pick into the gap you just made.
– Glide the pick towards the bottom-left corner to slice through the adhesive.
– Leave the pick chilling in the bottom-left corner to keep the adhesive from sticking back together.
Step 8
– If your pick gets a bit cozy with the adhesive, just give it a little spin along the side of the iPad to keep things moving. And remember, if you need help, you can always schedule a repair!
Step 10
– Warm up that iOpener and give the top edge of your device a cozy two-minute treatment.
Tools Used
Step 11
– Twirl the pick around the top-left corner of your device to free up that adhesive.
Step 12
Be sure to steer clear of the front camera while using the pick, as it could potentially harm the lens. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with the upcoming steps on how to avoid any mishaps!
– Gently glide the opening pick along the top edge of your device, but make sure to pause just before you hit the front camera. You’re doing great!
Step 13
– Gently wiggle the pick out until only the tip is snugly nestled between the digitizer and the frame.
– Carefully slide the pick above the front camera to easily separate the adhesive.
– Make sure to leave the pick chillin’ near the right side of the front camera before moving forward.
Step 15
– Warm up your iOpener and give it a cozy two-minute hug on the right edge of your device.

Step 16
– Gently glide the pick around the top-right corner of your device to break free the adhesive. You’ve got this!
Step 17
The display cables are hanging out about halfway up from the bottom of your iPad. Stop sliding right when you get to three inches from the bottom—you’re almost there!
– Grab a new opening pick and gently slide it right into the heart of the iPad’s right edge. You’ve got this!
Step 18
– Warm up an iOpener and place it on the device’s bottom edge for a chill two minutes.

Step 19
– Glide the bottom-left pick to the bottom-left corner to loosen the adhesive.
– Keep the pick in the bottom-left corner before advancing to the next step.
Step 20
– Time to get funky! Insert a fresh opening pick right into the gap you made at the bottom edge of the iPad.
– Glide that groovy pick over the antenna, jamming on right before the home button.
– Get your cool vibes flowin’ as you leave the pick chillin’ to the left of the home button before you groove on.
Step 21
Just a friendly reminder: Insert that pick only up to 1 mm to keep the right antenna safe and sound!
– Gently slide an opening pick into the space you’ve just opened up. You’re doing great!
– Now, glide that pick under the home button and towards the bottom-right corner, just make sure the tip is snugly nestled between the digitizer and the frame. You’re almost there!
Step 22
– Pop that pick back in and give it a gentle slide toward the home button to fully break free the bottom adhesive. You’re doing great!
– Now, just leave that pick hanging out to the right of the home button while we move on to the next step.
Step 23
– Warm up your iOpener and give it a cozy two-minute hug on the right edge of your device.

Step 24
– Gently twist the two opening picks at the left corners of your iPad to nudge the digitizer up a bit, helping to break free the last bits of adhesive along the way. Remember, you’re doing great!
Careful with this step! Take it slow, make sure the adhesive is warm and pliable, and use a pick to separate it all. Feel free to pause and reheat if needed. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Feeling some resistance? No worries! Just reheat the edges and glide along them with your trusty opening pick. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 25
– Lift the left edge of the digitizer up, gently coaxing that adhesive along the right edge of your iPad to separate. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 26
– While holding the digitizer steady, gently slide an opening pick between the two display cables to peel away the last bit of adhesive. You’ve got this!
Step 27
– After you’ve successfully separated all that sticky adhesive, gently lift the digitizer like you’re opening a book and lay it down parallel to the iPad.
– When putting everything back together, don’t forget to give the leftover adhesive on the frame—and the digitizer if you’re reusing it—a little cleanup with some isopropyl alcohol. Then, feel free to stick on our
