Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 44 Steps
Heads up! The battery isolation method in this guide is a bit old-school and could lead to some serious damage to the battery pins on the logic boardāyikes! If you decide to go this route, please take all precautions and work with extra care. If you prefer to skip isolating the battery, remember to steer clear of metal tools unless absolutely necessary (like when you’re tackling those pesky screws) to avoid shorting the battery and messing with sensitive circuit components. And if you find yourself in a bind, donāt hesitate to schedule a repair!
Hey there! Ready to give your iPad 5 LTE a fresh new look? This guide will help you swap out the front glass and digitizer assembly. Remember, the Touch ID sensor in your home button is a unique buddy paired with the logic board. So, we’ve included steps to safely remove the home button. To keep your Touch ID rocking, you’ll need to move the original home button to the new front panel. We’ve got some shots from a Wi-Fi model, so don’t worry if the insides look a bit different from your LTE version. The steps are the same unless we mention otherwise. Heads up: the way we suggest isolating the battery here is a bit old-school and could harm the battery pins on the logic board if not done with care. If you go this route, follow all safety tips and be super cautious. If you decide to skip battery isolation, just steer clear of metal tools unless you’re dealing with screws, to avoid any short circuits or damage. If this sounds tricky, remember you can always schedule a repair!
Step 1
– Warm up an iOpener and hold it to the left edge of your device for a cool two minutes.

Step 2
– As the adhesive is loosening up, take note of these areas that are a bit sensitive and donāt appreciate too much prying:
Step 3
In the next three steps, we’ll show you how to use the Anti-Clamp, our nifty little tool designed to make opening your device a breeze. If you don’t have the Anti-Clamp handy, no worries! Just skip ahead three steps for a different approach.
– Give that blue handle a gentle tug backward to set the Anti-Clamp’s arms free!
– Prop your iPad up with something sturdy so it’s perfectly balanced between those suction cups.
– Place the suction cups around the mid-point of the left edgeāone perched up top and the other down below.
– With one hand steadying the bottom of the Anti-Clamp, press down firmly on the top cup to create some serious suction magic.
Step 4
– First things first, give that blue handle a little pull forward to lock those arms in place. You’ve got this!
– Now, letās get that handle turning! Give it a clockwise spin for a full 360 degrees or until those suction cups start to stretch out a bit. Keep it smooth!
– Make sure those suction cups are in sync with each other. If they start to go their separate ways, just loosen them up a tad and realign those arms. Teamwork makes the dream work!
Step 5
– Take a breather for a minute to let that adhesive loosen up and create a little gap for you.
– If your screen is feeling a bit chilly, grab a hair dryer and warm up the left edge of the iPad for a cozy touch.
– Slide an opening pick under the digitizer when the Anti-Clamp has made a nice enough gap for you to work with.
– Feel free to skip the next step!
Step 6
Got a gnarly crack in your display? No worries! Slap on a layer of clear packing tape to help the suction cup stick better. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even try using some super strong tape instead of the suction cup. And if all else fails, why not get creative and superglue that suction cup right onto the shattered screen? Just remember, if you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
– Once the screen feels nice and toasty, grab a suction handle and stick it to the left edge of the screen, getting as close to the edge as you can.
– Gently lift the screen using the suction handle to create a little gap between the digitizer and the frame.
– Slide an opening pick into that gap you’ve just made between the digitizer and the frame.

Step 7
No worries if you spot the opening pick peeking through the digitizer ā just give it a gentle tug and pull it out. Your LCD screen should be just fine, but be mindful of any sticky adhesive that might be left behind. A little cleanup never hurt anyone!
– Go ahead and slip in another opening pick right into that space you made.
– Glide that pick down towards the bottom-left side of your device to gently loosen up the adhesive.
– Keep that pick snug in the bottom-left corner to make sure the adhesive doesn’t decide to stick back together.
Step 8
– If your opening pick is feeling a bit clingy in the adhesive, just give it a little ‘roll’ along the side of the iPad to keep that adhesive separating like a pro!
Step 9
– Gently glide the first opening pick towards the top-left corner of your device to loosen the adhesive.
– Leave the pick in the top-left corner to keep the adhesive from sticking back together.
Step 10
– Get the iOpener nice and warm, then gently place it on the top edge of the device for a couple of minutes.

– Now, smoothly glide the pick across the antenna, pausing right before you reach the home button.
– Remember to leave the pick snugly to the left of the home button before moving forward.
Step 21
Be gentle and only slide that pick in up to 1 mm to keep the right antenna safe and sound!
– Slip an opening pick into the gap you just created.
– Gently glide the pick under the home button and head to the bottom-right corner, ensuring only the tip slides between the digitizer and the frame.
Step 22

Step 26
– As you steady the digitizer, slip an opening pick between the two display cables to gently part the remaining adhesive.
Step 27
– After you’ve skillfully separated all the adhesive, flip the digitizer open like you’re starting a thrilling new chapter and lay it flat beside your iPad.
