Step 2

– Give your iOpener a cozy thirty-second zap in the microwave.

– As you tackle the repair, keep that iOpener warm by giving it a little more time in the microwave for another thirty seconds whenever it starts to cool down.

Step 3

– Carefully take the iOpener out of the microwave, making sure to grip one of the flat ends so you steer clear of the hot center. Stay safe and keep it cool!

Step 4

– Grab a pot or pan and fill it up with enough water to give your iOpener a nice, cozy bath.

– Bring that water to a rolling boil and then turn off the heat. Safety first!

– Gently place the iOpener into the hot water and let it soak for 2-3 minutes. Just make sure it’s fully submerged—no floaters allowed!

– Using tongs (or some heat-resistant hands if you’re feeling brave), carefully lift the iOpener out of the hot water.

– Give the iOpener a good towel dry. We want it to be nice and dry before it gets to work.

– And voilà! Your iOpener is all set for action! If you find it needs a little extra warmth later on, just repeat the process: heat the water, turn off the heat, and let it soak for 2-3 minutes again.

Step 5

– If your display glass has taken a hit and is cracked, let’s keep things safe and sound! Grab some tape and cover that glass to avoid any further mishaps while you tackle the repair.

– Lay down some overlapping strips of clear packing tape over the iPad’s display until you’ve got the whole face covered like a protective shield.

– Now, dive into the rest of the guide and do your best to follow along. Just a heads-up: once the glass starts cracking, it might want to keep breaking as you work. You might find yourself using a metal prying tool to help scoop out the glass. You’ve got this!

Step 6

– Place the iOpener flat along the right edge of the iPad, ensuring it makes good contact with the surface. Give it a little love tap to smooth it out!

– Let the bag chill on the iPad for about 90 seconds before you dive into opening that front panel.

Step 7

– Spot a little gap in the adhesive ring at the upper right corner of your iPad, about 2.0 inches (~5 cm) from the top. Time to take advantage of this tiny flaw!

– Now, align your trusty tool with the mute button. Gently slide the tip of a plastic opening tool into that gap between the front glass and the plastic bezel. Just poke it in a smidge to widen the crack a bit.

Step 8

– Make sure you slot the tool in the correct spot, like a puzzle piece, nestled in between the plastic display bezel and that front panel glass. If you’re feeling stuck, don’t worry! Just give us a shout and we’ll help you out schedule a repair.

Step 9

– With the plastic opening tool snugly positioned between the front glass and plastic bezel, gently slide a plastic opening pick into the gap right beside the tool. You’re doing great—keep it up!

Step 10

– Take that plastic opening tool out of the iPad and slide the opening pick in a bit deeper, about half an inch under the front glass. You’ve got this!

Step 11

– As you gently work on loosening the adhesive on the right side of the iPad, give your iOpener a little reheat love, and pop it back on the bottom edge of the iPad for some extra warmth.

Step 12

– As the iOpener warms up the bottom edge, start peeling away the adhesive from the right edge of your iPad.

– Gently slide the opening pick down the iPad’s edge, releasing that sticky adhesive with each move.

Step 13

– If your opening pick decides to play hide and seek in the adhesive, just give it a little roll along the side of the iPad to help it break free and keep on releasing that sticky stuff.

Step 14

– Before you dive in and pull out that first opening pick from the bottom corner of your iPad, slide a second pick under the right edge of the front glass. This little buddy will help keep the adhesive from getting all clingy again.

– Give your iOpener a quick reheat and then place it on the top edge of the iPad. You’re doing great!

Step 15

– Alright, folks, it’s time to roll up those sleeves and get a little careful! We’re diving into some delicate territory here.

– You’ll need to gently release the adhesive that’s keeping the antenna glued to the front panel. Just remember, we want to avoid any mishaps with those fragile parts connecting the antenna to the bottom of the iPad. So, take a deep breath and follow these next steps with care!

Step 16

– Gently glide the opening pick around the bottom right corner of your iPad to peel away the adhesive. You’ve got this!

Step 17

– Gently glide the tip of the opening pick along the bottom edge of the iPad to peel away the adhesive that’s holding down the Wi-Fi antenna. You’ve got this!

Step 18

– After you’ve gracefully glided past the Wi-Fi antenna (about 3″ (75 mm) from the right edge, right by the home button), pop that opening pick back in all the way.

– Now, give that pick a little slide to the right to let go of the adhesive that’s holding the Wi-Fi antenna snug against the front glass.

Step 19

– Keep on easing that adhesive loose along the bottom of your iPad! Gently pull the opening pick out far enough to slip it around the home button. Once you’ve got it past the home button, pop it back in, going about 1/2 inch (10 mm) deep. You’ve got this!

Step 20

– Keep peeling that adhesive along the bottom edge of your iPad like a champ!

– Let the opening pick rest snugly under the front glass close to the home button. It’s doing its job!

Step 21

– Pop the iOpener into the microwave for a quick reheat, then place it on the left edge of the iPad. This will help warm up the adhesive in that area, making it easier to work with.

Step 22

– Gently slide the opening pick along the top edge of your iPad, giving it a little tug to navigate around the front-facing camera bracket.

– The adhesive in this area can be quite the tough cookie, so you might need to apply some elbow grease. Take your time, and be careful not to slip and hurt yourself or your iPad.

– If the opening pick seems to be getting stuck in the adhesive, try ‘rolling’ the pick like a pro, just like we showed you in step 9.

Step 23

– Keep peeling away the sticky stuff along the top edge of your iPad, and gently maneuver the opening pick around that top left corner like a pro.

Step 24

– Gently slide the opening pick along the left edge of the iPad, and watch that adhesive let go! It’s a bit thinner here thanks to the digitizer running along the entire left side. Just be mindful to keep the pick no deeper than half an inch (10 mm) to avoid any mishaps with the digitizer. You’ve got this!

Step 25

– With your trusty opening pick still nestled under the bottom edge of the iPad, gently coax the adhesive loose at the bottom left corner. You’re doing great!

Step 26

– Take one of those handy opening picks and gently nudge up the bottom right corner of your iPad. Once it’s lifted, give it a little pinch with your fingers to hold on tight!

Step 27

– Grab your iPad by the top and bottom right corners, and give that front glass a gentle twist away from the device—like you’re opening a book full of secrets!

– When putting everything back together, don’t forget to pamper your LCD! Use a microfiber cloth and a blast of compressed air to wipe away any sneaky dust or fingerprints before sealing it all up.

Step 28

– Get ready to tackle your repair! First up, let’s unscrew those four 2.0 mm Phillips screws that are keeping the LCD snug against the rear case. You’ve got this!

Step 29

– Gently lift the LCD from the edge closest to the volume buttons and flip it out of the rear case, just like turning a page in your favorite book.

– Now, place the LCD face down on the front panel. You’re doing great!

Step 30

– Grab a plastic opening tool and gently lift up the tape that’s hiding the end of the dock connector cable. You’ve got this!

Step 31

– Gently slide the edge of a plastic opening tool under the dock connector cable’s connector and lift it up from its cozy home on the logic board.

– Carefully peel the dock connector ribbon cable away from the rear case, giving it a little love as you go.

Step 32

– Unscrew those two 2.0 mm Phillips screws that are holding the dock connector snugly to the rear case. You’ve got this!

Step 33

– Gently wiggle the dock connector free from its cozy spot in the back case and lift it out of your iPad 2 with care.
