Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 8 Steps
Hey there, repair hero! Just a quick heads up: if you’re feeling a bit uncertain or if the task seems a tad tricky, don’t hesitate! You can always schedule a repair and let the pros handle it. You’re doing great, just take it one step at a time!
Time to swap out that rear display bezel on your iBook G4 14″ 1.42 GHz! It’s easier than you might think. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 3
– Grab your trusty 1.5 mm hex screwdriver and gently unscrew the two hex screws on each side of the display (that’s four screws in total!).
– Don’t have a 1.5 mm hex driver? No worries! A T6 Torx screwdriver might do the trick, but just a heads up, using a T6 could make those screws a bit tricky to handle if you’re not careful.
Step 4
– Grab your trusty spudger and slide the flat end in at a cool angle right into the little gap between the front and rear bezels, just near the upper left corner of the display. You’ve got this!
– Now, give that spudger a gentle twist away from the display to help pop the rear bezel off the front bezel. Easy peasy!

– If the rear bezel is feeling a bit stubborn, don’t worry! Just give it a little nudge along the bottom edge to help it break free from the display assembly.
