Got a broken or outdated hard drive that needs a little TLC? You’re in the right place! Before diving into this guide, make sure you’ve already removed the keyboard module from your laptop. If you need a refresher on that, check out the prerequisite guide for all the details. Let’s get your device back in action!
Step 1
First things first, let’s get that laptop powered down and unplugged from the wall. Safety first, right?
– Grab your trusty Philips #1 screwdriver and unscrew the nine screws holding the back cover in place.
Step 2
Be gentle when prying open the lid! You should hear each plastic clip give a satisfying snap as you glide the spudger along the edge. Remember, patience is key!
– Flip your laptop over and pop open that display like a pro!
– Slide the flat edge of your trusty spudger into the groove of the keyboard cover.
– With the spudger in place, gently nudge the casing open by gliding it along the edge. You’ve got this!

Step 3
Ensure that all the clips have released their grip on the cover, so it can come off smoothly.
– Gently lift the cover from the front of the laptop, but hold your horses—don’t take it off completely just yet!
– Keep an eye on the three white and blue data cables that connect the keyboard to the main board; you’ll want to remember where they are!
Step 4
If you’re just swapping out the battery, feel free to breeze past this step and the next one! Gently move the keyboard module aside from the display, making sure those fragile flex cables are comfy and not under any strain.
To pop open a ZIF connector, grab your trusty spudger or just use your fingernail to flip up that little hinged locking flap. Carefully slide the cable out of the socket once it’s free!
– Unplug those three data cables from the motherboard with care!

Step 7
Make sure to give that hard drive a nice little break from the motherboard, just to make sure those connectors stay happy and healthy!
Time to give your device a little makeover! If it’s time for a new hard drive, gently unscrew the old one from its cozy spot and pop a shiny new one in. Your device will thank you for the upgrade!
