Steps: 19 Steps

The Asus X551CA motherboard is the heart of your device, bringing together all the essential parts like the hard drive, RAM, battery, LCD, and more into one harmonious unit. It’s like the conductor of an orchestra, making sure everything plays in perfect sync!

Step 1

– Alright, let’s flip that laptop over and get to work! Grab your trusty Phillips #0 driver and let’s tackle these screws:

– First up, remove those two 9.5 mm screws chilling in the middle of the back edge, and don’t forget the one 9.5 mm screw on the right edge.

– Now, let’s head to the back corners and say goodbye to those two 4.3 mm screws.

– Next, there’s a 17.5 mm screw located at the left edge, right near the optical drive, just waiting for you to take it out.

– Finally, finish strong by unscrewing the three 4.3 mm screws along the front edge.

Step 2

– Grab your trusty plastic opening tool and slide it carefully between the keyboard plate cover and the bottom cover. Gently work it along the edges to pry them apart. No need to rush, just let the tool do its thing!

Step 3

– Find the three ribbons connecting the keyboard plate cover to the bottom cover. They’re waiting for you to give them some attention.

Step 4

– Flip your laptop upside down to get a good look at those ribbons waiting for some attention.

– Gently lift the tiny white plastic flap to release each ribbon, then carefully pull it out. Easy peasy!

Step 5

– Alright, the ribbons are off! Time to gently lift off the keyboard plate cover. Be careful with it—treat it like the VIP it is—and stash it somewhere safe and dry, far away from any potential damage!

Step 6

– Let’s get started by removing the three 5.5 mm Phillips #0 screws using your trusty Phillips #0 Screwdriver. This is the first step towards a successful repair, and you’re doing great!

Step 7

– After you’ve tackled those pesky screws, gently grip the left corners and nudge the hard drive over to the right edge of the laptop, just like in the picture. You’ve got this!

Step 8

– Once it’s all set free, gently take that hard drive out of its cozy little home!

Step 9

– Grab your trusty Phillips #0 Screwdriver and let’s get to work! Carefully unscrew the 5.5 mm Phillips #0 screw that’s keeping the spacer snug in its spot. You’ve got this!

Step 10

– Gently slide the spacer towards the right edge of the laptop to free it. You’re doing great!

Step 11

– Grab your trusty Phillips #0 Screwdriver and carefully twist out that 3.2 mm Phillips #0 screw holding the WiFi card snugly to the motherboard. You’ve got this!

Step 12

– Gently slide the Wifi card towards the right edge of the laptop to disconnect it from the motherboard. You’ve got this!

Step 13

– Carefully pop off each of the two little antenna connections, one wire at a time. They should unclip from the Wifi card without much fuss—like they’re saying, ‘See ya!’

Step 14

– Gently pop that battery out of your laptop by pressing down on both ends and lifting it right out of its cozy little home. You’ve got this!

Step 15

– Grab your trusty Phillips #0 screwdriver and let’s get to work! Carefully unscrew those nine 5.5 mm Phillips #0 screws that are keeping the motherboard snug as a bug. You’ve got this!

Step 16

– Alright, time to spot those two wires hanging out with the motherboard. They’re easy to find, so let’s get to it!

Step 17

– Gently slide the wires out by pulling them flat along the surface of the motherboard—smooth moves, no stress!

Step 18

– Carefully disconnect the LCD display by gently tugging on the attached wire. You’ve got this!

– Take a moment to lift any tape that might be keeping the connection snug. Easy does it!

Step 19

– Let’s get that motherboard out of there! Gently lift it upwards to remove it from the case.

Success!
