Asus X551CA Spacer Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 7 Steps
The Asus X551CA spacer is your laptop’s secret weapon for staying lightweight and steady on its feet, while also giving you the cool option to add an optical drive if you want to. It’s like having your cake and eating it too!
Step 1
Before you dive in, make sure to power down your laptop and unplug it. Safety first, rockstar!
– Flip the laptop over so you’re staring at its underside. Grab a Phillips #0 screwdriver and get ready to tackle these screws:
– Two 9.5 mm screws hanging out in the middle of the back edge, plus one 9.5 mm screw chilling on the right edge.
– Two 4.3 mm screws snugged up in the back corners.
– One 17.5 mm screw lounging on the left edge near the optical drive.
– Three 4.3 mm screws lining up along the front edge.
Step 2
– Grab your trusty plastic opening tool and let’s get that keyboard plate cover off the bottom cover! Just slide the tool in between the two, and gently glide it along the edges to pop it open. You’ve got this!
Step 3
– Find the three ribbons that are connecting the keyboard plate cover to the bottom cover. You’ve got this!
Step 4
– Flip your laptop upside down to easily reach those sneaky ribbons.
– Gently lift the tiny white plastic flap and carefully tug on each ribbon to release them.
Step 5
– With the ribbons now free from the bottom cover, gently lift off the keyboard plate cover. Once it’s off, find a cozy, dry spot to keep it safe from any mishaps. We want to keep it in tip-top shape!
Step 6
– Grab your Phillips #0 screwdriver and carefully unscrew the 5.5 mm Phillips #0 screw that’s holding the spacer in place. Take your time – it’s a small but important step!
