Asus X555LA-SI305041 CD Drive Replacement

Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 7 Steps

If your CD Drive has given up the ghost or you’re itching for a snazzier one, it’s time to swap it out. Luckily, this is one of the more straightforward replacements—you won’t have to dismantle half your device to get it done. The CD Drive is basically a lone wolf, so you won’t be pulling out any unexpected extra parts along with it. And honestly, trying to repair a CD Drive isn’t really worth the hassle—if it’s not working, your best bet is to replace the entire thing and call it a day.

Step 1

– Grab your Phillips #0 screwdriver and pop out these screws from the lower case:

– Six 9 mm screws

– Four 11 mm screws

Step 2

– Grab your trusty plastic opening tool and get ready to work some magic separating the top cover from the laptop.

– Kick things off by gently prying along the front of the laptop—it’s like opening a really stubborn cookie jar.

– Work your way around the edges, prying as you go, and end your quest just under the screen to pop the front cover loose.

Step 3

– To pop that ZIF latch loose, just give the little white tab a gentle lift.

– Now, gently tug the white ribbon cable out of the socket to disconnect it. You’ve got this!

Step 4

– Flip the grey rotating tab up to unlock the ZIF latch holding the keyboard cable in place—it’s like waving goodbye to that little clip!

– Now, gently slide the black and blue ribbon cable out of the connector like a smooth operator—no tugging or yanking allowed!

Step 5

– Now’s your chance to pop off that keyboard and front panel, giving you full access to the guts of the laptop. Go get ’em!

Step 6

– Grab your trusty #0 Phillips screwdriver and get ready to tackle that sleek black screw. It’s a (5mm) gem sitting left of the CD drive and chilling to the right of the cooling fan. Unscrew it like a pro—you’ve got this!

Step 7

– To put your device back together, just work through these steps in reverse—they got you covered!

– If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

Success!
To wrap up, simply follow these steps in reverse and you’ll be all set! If you need help or have any questions, you can always schedule a repair.
You did it!
