Steps: 6 Steps

Welcome to the wonderful world of laptop RAM replacement! Today, we’re diving into how to swap out that RAM, which can be a lifesaver if it’s acting up or if you’re ready to boost your machine’s performance. This is one of the simpler fixes you can tackle on this device. RAM is built to be replaced and upgraded, making it super accessible. Just a quick note: while one stick of RAM is soldered onto the motherboard and can’t be replaced, the slot we’re focusing on might be empty. If that soldered stick is causing you grief, it’s time to file an RMA. But if it’s the one in the bay giving you trouble, you’re in the right place! Let’s get started!

Step 1

– Turn your laptop upside down and place it on a sturdy, flat surface—like it’s ready for a little makeover.

– You’ll find the RAM nestled snugly under the square cover on the bottom of the laptop. Time to give it some attention!

Step 2

– Grab that handy plastic opening tool and gently pry off the screw cover. You’ve got this!

Step 3

– Let’s get started! Use a #0 Phillips screwdriver to carefully remove the single 2.5mm screw from the RAM cover. Easy does it!

Step 4

– Grab your handy plastic opener and pop that RAM cover off like a pro!

Step 5

– Using your finger, gently push the two metal tabs on either side outward until the RAM card springs up like a pop-up surprise!

Step 6

– Put your device back together by working through these steps in reverse—piece of cake!

– If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

Success!
Got everything back together? Awesome! Just retrace your steps backwards to bring your device back to life. And hey, if you hit a snag, don’t sweat it—schedule a repair and we’ll help you out.
