BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 Circuit Board and Roller Ball

The goal here is to carefully remove both the main circuit board and the roller ball unit from the main frame of the phone. Take your time and stay patient—you’re almost there! If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 1
– Let’s get those four screws off the back of your phone, right around the battery area. You’ve got this!
– Now, the two screws near the top are a bit shy, hidden behind some plastic stoppers. Pop those off and remove the screws.
– Don’t forget the last two screws waiting on either side of the battery. Give them a little love and remove them too.
Step 2
You might need to give it a little gentle persuasion from a few angles. The handy plastic blue prying tool shown here could come in very handy!
– Carefully lift out the bottom plastic piece to get the party started. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 3
– After popping off the keypad, don’t be surprised if the side buttons decide to jump out and say hello!
– Next up, you’ll want to carefully loosen the board from the right side, away from the charging ports. No rush here!
– With a gentle touch, pull towards the right so the ports can gracefully exit the plastic casing.
– Now, flip the board over to the left with care. You’re doing great!
Step 4
– Flip the circuit board over and spot that small rectangular blue piece with a black ‘L’ shape sitting in the middle. It’s like a tiny puzzle piece! Carefully lift it off the back of the main board—gentle hands recommended. Once it’s free, you can confidently remove the main board completely. If you need a hand along the way, remember you can always schedule a repair.
Step 5
– What’s left inside the phone? The roller ball, just hanging out. No worries, we’ve got this.
– Now, take that trusty plastic blue tool and gently wiggle it to detach the roller ball from the frame. Easy does it!
