This is a step-by-step guide on how to repair a Canon DSLR camera.
Step 1: Remove the battery
Hold the camera with the lens pointing down. Press the highlighted button with your finger to release the cover. Pull cover over to expose the battery.
Step 2: Remove the touchscreen
Press the white button with your finger to release the battery. Once released, the battery will eject out about two inches. Pull battery out of the camera. Pull Touchscreen out and rotate 90 degrees.
Step 3: Remove the screws
Remove the four 3 mm Phillips #000 head screws that are now exposed at the hinge. Remove the two 5 mm Phillips #000 head screws that near the viewfinder.
Step 4: Remove the backplate
Use a spudger and pry apart the two plastic columns surrounding the screen hinge.
Step 5: Remove the LCD connector
Rotate the screen forward 90 degrees and push it back into its housing against the camera.
Step 6: Remove the LCD connector
Use a spudger to peel rubber matting on left hand side to expose camera backplate mounting screws.
Step 7: Remove the LCD connector
Remove three 4 mm Phillip #000 head screws that mount the backplate to the left side of camera.
Step 8: Remove the LCD connector
Use tweezers to pry rubber matting on right hand side to expose backplate mounting screws.
