Dell XPS 15 9550 Cooling Fan(s) Replacement

Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 6 Steps

Your laptop’s cooling fans are the MVPs of keeping things chill. If your device feels like it’s trying to audition for a role in a heatwave or sounds like a jet engine, one or both of the fans might need some attention.

Step 1

– Flip your laptop over so you’re looking at the bottom. It’s showtime!

– Grab a T5 Torx screwdriver and start unscrewing! There are ten 3mm screws around the edge of the laptop’s back. Take them out carefully, and keep them safe for reassembly.

Step 2

– Pop open that information panel door located right in the middle of the back side. You’ve got this!

– While keeping that door wide open, grab your trusty Phillips #00 Screwdriver and unscrew those two 10 mm long screws like a pro.

Step 3

– Gently pop up the two corners of the back panel near the hinge and lift it up to free the entire panel. You’ve got this!

Step 4

– Grab the Small Plastic Spudger and gently pop that white connector out of the black port. Go slow—you’re rocking this!

Step 5

– Grab your trusty Phillips #00 Screwdriver and remove those two snazzy 4 mm screws.

– Look for the left fan screws—yep, those spots circled in red, that’s where the magic happens.

– Now shift your attention to the right fan screws—the orange-circled spots have your name on them!

Step 6

– Alright, screws are out! Now, gently lift the fan up and slide it out of the laptop like a pro.

Success!
To wrap things up, simply follow these steps in reverse and you’ll be good as new! If you need help or want to leave it to the pros, you can always schedule a repair.
You did it!
