Disassembling Monster M7 Tablet Entire tablet
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 5 Steps
Meet the Monster M7 16GB tablet! There’s a common issue with the micro USB port becoming loose from the motherboard. This requires some micro soldering to fix. If you’re up for a teardown and just need to bring the parts to someone who can do the soldering, it’ll save you a bit of cash on the repair. Just so you know, Monster won’t fix your tablet—they’ll send you a replacement. As for Walmart’s warranty, they’ll refund your money, though both options might cause a bit of a headache. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 1
– Carefully nudge the back away from the volume buttons just enough to slip in a plastic wedge or guitar pick under them. These buttons are a bit wobbly and you don’t want to mess up the switches underneath. Glide your tool around the edge of the back cover—just don’t poke it in too far.
– When you reach the speakers, slow down. They’re hanging out on the back and wired right to the main board. Gently lift the back cover from the bottom, then pop the speakers out of their cozy foam-taped spots. Their wires sneak under the battery, so just let them chill there for now.
Step 2
– The wifi antenna hangs out just below the volume switches. Carefully peel off the tape and gently move the antenna to the other side. Keep in mind, the wires are soldered straight to the board, so handle it with care.
– Peel off the tape from the battery and the board, and remove it completely. The battery’s stuck down and also soldered to the board, so take it slow and steady. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 3
– First, let’s get those ribbon connectors out of the way. There are two on the right side and two on the left. Gently lift the tabs and slide out the ribbons. Keep an eye out for the wifi antenna wire on the left side—it’s soldered to the board, and there’s a flat harness underneath, so be extra careful with it.
– Next up, remove the four small Phillips screws at the bottom of the board. Once they’re out, lift from the top and carefully pull it out. Now you’re in the zone to fix that micro USB port, which means some micro soldering. If that’s not your thing, no worries—you can always schedule a repair and let the experts take care of it for you. 🙂
Step 4
– To keep moving forward with the disassembly, go ahead and gently take out the front and rear cameras, along with their ribbons attached to the screen backing. Don’t forget—two screws and a tiny bracket are holding the front camera in place.
– Next up, remove the button circuit board, buttons, tape, ribbon, and Wi-Fi antenna from the back of the screen. You’ve got this!
– Pay close attention to how the ribbon for the button circuit board is tucked under both the tape and Wi-Fi tape. Be super careful not to snap anything in the process. Patience is key here!
Step 5
– Pop your device back together by reversing these steps, and you’re good to go!
– If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
