Ready to give your Pixel 9 Pro XL a fresh new look? This guide will walk you through replacing that cracked or broken rear cover. You’ll need some replacement adhesive to get the job done. Heads up: this repair might affect your phone’s water resistance, so take your time with the adhesive to keep things snug and secure. If you hit a snag, don’t sweat it—you can always schedule a repair for a helping hand. Let’s get started!
Step 2
When prying the adhesive, keep your tool under 3 mm to avoid any oopsie-daisies with the delicate bits inside. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Grab your opening pick and mark 3 mm from the tip with a permanent marker. No marker? No problem! Just tape a coin 3 mm from the tip instead. Easy peasy!
– The adhesive keeps the back cover snugly attached to the frame—like a trusty sidekick holding things together!
Step 3
– Grab a suction handle and stick it to the bottom edge of the rear cover, making sure to position it as close to the edge as you can. Let’s get that cover off!

Step 4
– Give that suction handle a good, confident tug to pop open a little gap beneath the rear cover. You’re doing great!
– Now, slip the tip of your trusty opening pick into that gap you just created. Nice and easy!

Step 5
Hey there! Just a friendly reminder: keep that opening pick no deeper than 3 mm, okay?
– Gently glide your trusty opening tool along the bottom edge to loosen the adhesive that’s holding it in place.
Step 6
– Gently glide your opening pick along the left edge and then up the top edge to break that stubborn adhesive seal.
Step 7
– Gently glide your pick down the right edge to break free the remaining adhesive. You’ve got this!
Step 8
Hold your horses there, partner! Don’t go ripping off the back cover just yet. There’s a little ribbon cable on the right side keeping things connected. We’ll deal with that soon enough.
Having a bit of a struggle? No worries! Just take a peek around the edges for any leftover adhesive, and gently use your opening pick to help separate it. You’ve got this!
– Grab that suction handle and gently lift the left edge of the rear cover, then swing it over to the right, just like you’re opening a book. Easy peasy!
– Now, use the suction handle to hold up the rear cover so you can peek at the ribbon cable hanging out near the top right corner. You’re doing great!
