DIY Guide to Replace MacBook Pro 13 Unibody Mid 2009 Clutch Cover

Get ready to swap out that worn-out plastic clutch cover! Follow this guide to make your device feel brand new again. And hey, if you hit any bumps along the way, don’t hesitate to schedule a repair for some expert help!

Step 1

– Unscrew those 10 pesky screws holding the lower case of your MacBook Pro 13″ Unibody in place and let the magic begin!

Step 2

– Gently raise the lower case and slide it towards the back of the device to release those pesky mounting tabs.

Step 3

– Grab your trusty spudger and gently use its flat end to nudge that battery connector up and out of its cozy spot on the logic board. You’ve got this!

Step 4

– Grab your trusty spudger and gently slide the flat end underneath the subwoofer/right speaker cable connector. With a bit of finesse, lift it up and away from its cozy home on the logic board. You’ve got this!

Step 5

– Gently slide the camera cable out of its socket, making sure to do it horizontally. You’ve got this!

Step 6

– Gently guide that camera data cable out from its cozy little channel in the optical drive. You’ve got this!

Step 7

– Unscrew those pesky screws that are holding the camera data cable and right speaker snugly to the upper case. You’ve got this!

– Carefully slide the camera cable bracket out from under the subwoofer and give it a little pull to remove it from the computer. Easy peasy!

Step 8

– First, gently grab that handy plastic pull tab connected to the display data cable lock and give it a little twist toward the DC-in side of your device. You got this!

– Now, with a smooth motion, pull the display data cable connector straight out from its socket. Easy peasy!

Step 9

– Let’s get started by unscrewing those two screws that are holding the display data cable bracket snugly in place on the upper case. You’ve got this!

– Now, gently lift the display data cable bracket out of the upper case. Easy peasy!

Step 10

– Grab your trusty Torx driver and let’s tackle those two outer 6.5 mm screws holding each of the display brackets to the upper case—there are four screws in total just waiting for your expert touch!

Step 11

– First things first, open up your MacBook so that the display stands tall and proud, perfectly perpendicular to the upper case.

– Now, let’s get that MacBook comfy! Place it on a table just like in the picture.

– With your left hand holding the display and upper case together like a pro, grab your Torx driver and carefully remove that last 6.5 mm screw from the lower display bracket. You’ve got this!

Step 12

– Time to get that display loose! Grab your trusty screwdriver and remove the last little 6 mm Torx screw that’s holding the display to the upper case. You’ve got this!

Step 13

– With your right hand, gently take hold of the upper case and give it a little twist towards the top of the display. This will help the upper display bracket glide past the edge of the upper case.

– Now, give the display a slight nudge away from the upper case.

Step 14

– Gently raise the display and pull it away from the upper case, keeping an eye out for any pesky brackets or cables that might want to tag along.

Step 15

– Take hold of the clutch cover like a pro and gently slide it over to the right side of the display.

Step 16

– With a gentle touch, wiggle that clutch cover back and forth along its long axis while carefully pulling it away from the display.

– Keep that groove going along the length of the clutch cover until you can easily lift it off from the framework that’s holding it to the display.

Step 17

– Take off the clutch cover from the display, and give yourself a little pat on the back for getting started!
