Step 7

– Give your computer a quick spin (90 degrees should do) and unscrew the two Phillips screws hanging out at the back. Keep it groovy!

Step 8

– Twist your device a cool 90 degrees once more and unscrew the four Phillips screws from the side. Keep rocking it!

Step 9

– Start by lifting the rear of the case and shimmying your fingers along the sides to loosen it. Work your way around until the sides are free. You might need to give the case a little wiggle up and down to release the front. Be patient here, as this part can be a bit of a puzzle! Just above the DVD reader, keep an eye out for four sneaky tabs that you’ll need to pull out vertically.

– Watch out for the two little tabs on the left front of the upper case—they might get a bit bent out of shape during removal. When putting it back together, you might have to straighten them out so they slip back into the grooves on the lower case like a charm.

– Gently guide the Airport antenna cables out of their cozy little channel in the left speaker. They’ll appreciate the freedom!

Step 13

– Gently coax the iSight, inverter, and left fan cables away from the logic board by giving them a smooth pull in the direction they lay. It’s like detangling a kitten from a ball of yarn—patience and care, friends!

Step 14

– Unplug the display data cable from the logic board with flair.

Step 15

– Unscrew the shiny silver T6 Torx screw that’s keeping the ground loop of the display data cable snug against the casing. It’s a small step for you, but a giant leap for your device!

Step 16

– Hold the screen up with one hand while you unscrew the following 3 screws:

Step 17

– Grab the display assembly on both sides with a confident grip and lift it away from the computer like you’re raising a trophy!
