DIY Guide to Replace Samsung Galaxy S5 Battery

Duration: 15 min.
Steps: 4 Steps

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of swapping out your Samsung Galaxy S5’s faulty battery all by yourself! If your phone is crashing during those intense gaming sessions, refusing to turn on, or just running on empty way too quickly, this repair is just what you need. And remember, if you need help, you can always schedule a repair!

Step 1

– Slide the spudger into the little gap next to the standby button and gently lift that back cover off. You’ll find 18 clips hanging out under there, so give them a little nudge with the spudger as you make your way around the smartphone. If you’re feeling a bit more hands-on, you can also use your fingernails to pop the back cover off.

– Once you’ve done that, you can easily remove the back cover!

Step 2

– Alright, if your Samsung Galaxy is still awake, it’s time to give it a little nap! Press and hold that standby button for about three seconds and follow the friendly prompts on the screen.

– Next up, grab your trusty spudger or just your fingertip to gently lift out the battery (check out figure 1) and then go ahead and remove it (see figure 2).

Step 3

– Slide that battery back in! Just make sure the +/- symbols are snuggling up with the contact point.

Step 4

– Getting that back cover back on is a breeze! Just line it up right and give it a gentle press all the way around until you hear that satisfying click. You’re almost there!
