Step 1
No need to worry about the rubber – it’s already seen better days on this controller, so you can leave it be.
– Let’s get started by carefully removing the side panels using a trusty pry tool. Remember to take your time and be gentle to avoid any damage.
Step 2
– Let’s get those five TR9 Torx security screws outta there!
Step 3
Be gentle with that ribbon in the next step, we don’t want any accidents!
– Gently pry open the panel located next to the 3.5mm port – it’s time to get inside and start fixing
Step 4
Tenderly handle that ribbon cable, we don’t want any tears!
– Give that connector a little nudge upwards to free the ribbon cable. Easy peasy!
– Ribbon Cable
Step 5
– Let’s get started by removing the 2 Torx (T6) screws – this is the first step to unlocking your device’s inner workings!
Step 6
– Time to get up close and personal with those wires! Desolder the 4 wires on each side – these little guys control the vibrations and the RT LT. Take your time and make sure you’re gentle, we don’t want any accidental damage.
Step 7
– Gently pull the controller up from the top side of the sister board – it’s time to set it free!
Step 8
Hold onto that sync button, it’s like a little friend helping you along the way!
This will also remove those LB and RB things, which are all one piece, so that’s cool!
– Gently pry the middle section upwards, starting from the side with the home button. Make sure to take your time and be careful not to damage any of the surrounding components.
Step 9
– Alright, time to loosen those screws! You’ll need a Torx (T6) screwdriver for this step. Go ahead and unscrew the 6 screws, and we’ll be on our way to fixing this thing!
Step 10
Be sure to line up the new LED in the same direction as the old one, or you might just zap it out of existence!
– Time to get rid of that old LED! Carefully desolder it from the motherboard on both sides until all the old solder is gone. You’re making great progress!
– Now it’s time to shine – literally! Solder your new LED into place and get ready for a brighter experience.
