DIY iPad Wi-Fi Dock Connector Cable Replacement Guide

Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 15 Steps

Follow this guide to swap out your iPad’s dock connector cable like a pro! If you hit a snag or need a hand, don’t hesitate to schedule a repair.

Step 1

– If your display glass is cracked, let’s keep that mess contained and avoid any ouchies while you tackle your repair by slapping some tape on it.

– Grab some clear packing tape and lay overlapping strips over your iPad’s display until the entire face is nicely covered.

– Now, just do your best to follow along with the rest of the guide as laid out. Keep in mind, once the glass starts breaking, it might want to keep cracking as you work. You might need to get a metal prying tool to help scoop out those pesky glass pieces.

Step 2

– There are 14 little metal clips keeping the display assembly snug and secure, just like a cozy hug! As you start prying in the upcoming steps, remember to dance around those clips and avoid slicing through them with your trusty opening tool. You’ve got this!

Step 3

– Slide a metal spudger into the gap between the top edge of the display assembly and the rear panel assembly.

– Gently twist the spudger away from you to pop the tabs loose along the top edge of the display.

– Now, insert a second metal spudger into the same gap to keep those tabs from snapping back like they just got startled!

– Once that’s done, simply pull the cable connector away from its socket with a little finesse.
