Swapping out a faulty fan is a breeze and will keep your laptop chill while it works its magic!
Step 2
– Unscrew the trio of identical Phillips screws securing the memory door. Remember, keeping track of which screws came from where will make reassembly a breeze.
Step 3

Step 8
– Twist that computer 90 degrees once more and whip out those four Phillips screws from the side. You’re doing awesome!
Step 9
Hold your horses! Don’t just rip the upper case off like it’s a band-aid. It’s still connected to the logic board by a sneaky little ribbon cable.

– Heads up: the tiny tongues on the front left of the upper case might get a little bent out of shape during your removal extravaganza. No sweat! When you’re putting it back together, just give them a little persuasion to tuck back into the grooves of the lower case.
Step 10
– Gently unplug the trackpad and keyboard ribbon cable from the logic board, peeling off any tape if it gets in the way. Almost there!
– Lift off the upper case like a pro. You’re doing awesome!
Step 12
– Grab your spudger and give the brown plastic flap on the logic board a cheerful flick to free the left ambient light sensor cable.
– Gently shimmy the left ambient light sensor cable to the left and slide it out of its cozy home.
