DIY Xbox One Wi-Fi Board Replacement Guide – Step-by-Step
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 17 Steps
Is your connection acting up? Frustrated with lag? Dive into this guide to switch out your Wi-Fi Board and get back online in no time!
Step 1
– Ready to crack open your Xbox? You’ll need to slice or peel away that tamper-evident tape. No need to fret— Microsoft won’t void your warranty as long as you keep everything intact. Enjoy the process!
Step 2
– Grab your trusty plastic opening tool and gently wiggle it to lift and pop off the plastic vent surrounding the side USB port.
– This vent is quite bendy and held in by some pretty relaxed plastic clips—start from the back and peel it away like a banana!
Step 3
There’s a nifty little plastic tab that gives some extra support to the front corner of your Xbox.
– Slide that tab back like you’re opening a secret door. Then, gently remove it. You’re doing great!
Step 4
Get ready to wrestle with a stubborn plastic clip that’s holding the two case halves together – it’s gonna take some elbow grease to get it to budge!
Keep that spudger in place until you’ve fully opened the case, or those super springy clips might just snap it shut on you while you’re working your magic.
Step 5
The connection between the top and bottom parts of the Xbox is held together by a series of clips that run along the back and sides. Just a little finesse and you’ll have it open in no time!
– Time to get this repair started! Insert a plastic opening tool between the upper and lower case to gently release the clip that’s holding things together over the rear vent.
Step 7
Once you reach the far end of the rear case, the top case should be ready to lift off. If it’s being stubborn, just grab your trusty plastic opening tool and gently run it around the edge. Give those clips along the side without the USB port a little pop, and you should be good to go!
– Keep working on those clips! It might be helpful to glide the plastic opening tool along the clips to make the process smoother.
Step 8
Hold your horses! The upper case is still hooked up to the front panel button cable. We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves, let’s disconnect it first!
Grab a trusty plastic opening tool and give those sneaky clips a gentle nudge to set them free!
Step 9
This front button cable has a unique ZIF connector, so keep your eyes peeled for the next few steps! We’ll guide you through disconnecting it safely and smoothly.
Step 10
– Time to give that cable a gentle nudge! Use those tweezers to carefully pull the cable straight out of the connector on the board.
– Alright, let’s pop that upper case right off. You got this!
Step 11
– Now it’s time to put things back together – the next 4 steps will walk you through reassembly, but if you’re not ready for that yet, feel free to skip ahead and keep disassembling.
– Grab your trusty spudger and use the flat end to gently pry the clips loose that hold the front panel in place on the upper case.
– Carefully lift the front panel away from the rest of the upper case – you’re making great progress!

Step 12
– Time to give your upper case a fresh new top – simply replace it with the new one.
– Now, carefully line up those clips and press down firmly to secure them back in place around the edges.
Step 14
The bottom part of the front panel features plastic hooks that snugly connect with the plastic hooks at the front of the lower case. Stay positive, you’ve got this!
– Hold the front panel at a cool 45-degree angle and lock those plastic hooks into place with the ones on the lower case. You’ve got this!
– Gently push the top of the front panel into the Xbox, just like you’re closing a mailbox. Give it a firm press so those clips can secure the front panel to the upper case snugly. You’re doing great!
Step 15
– Let’s get started by removing the two 9.5 mm T9 Torx screws from the WI-Fi board. This is a straightforward step, but be sure to set those screws aside safely so they don’t get lost.
Step 16
– Grab your trusty spudger and gently slide the flat end under the Wi-Fi antenna cable. Give it a little wiggle and disconnect it from its cozy spot on the Wi-Fi board. You’re doing great!
