Step 1
– Warm up the black plastic strip along the front lower edge of the keyboard with an iOpener—this loosens the adhesive holding it down, so it can finally let go.
– When reattaching the plastic strip, make sure to apply adhesive so it sticks around for the long haul.

– Grab a trusty medium plastic opening tool and gently lift that black plastic strip from the lower edge of the keyboard. You’re on your way to a successful repair!
Step 3
These screws are a little quirky, as they like to spin in the opposite direction! So, give them a twist to the right – clockwise is the way to go for removal.
– Find those four 3.1mm Phillips #000 screws holding the keyboard to the back plate—they’re hiding in plain sight, but you’ve got this!
– Grab your trusty Phillips #000 screwdriver and carefully unscrew those tiny keyboard anchors. Steady hands win the day!

When you’re using a heat gun for removal, keep the action on the backside of the keyboard to prevent those keys from getting all warped and wonky!
Step 5
Take it easy on the keyboard, folks! Too much force and you might just hear a crack. Let’s keep it chill and gentle.
– Time to get this keyboard apart! Use a plastic or nylon spudger to carefully pry the two halves apart – it’s like opening a little clamshell.
– If the plastic spudger isn’t doing the trick, you can bring in the big guns – a metal spudger. Just be gentle, so you don’t scratch or damage your device.
– When you’re ready to put everything back together, you’ll need some adhesive to keep the keyboard securely in place. Don’t worry, it’s an easy step, and you’ll be typing like a pro in no time.
