How to Calibrate Steam Deck Triggers DIY Guide
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 3 Steps
Heads up: The calibration of both the Steam Deck thumbsticks and triggers may not work as intended on SteamOS version 3.3. Don’t worry, we’ve got your back if you need to schedule a repair for assistance!
Get ready to fine-tune your Steam Deck’s triggers right from SteamOS! Valve suggests giving those new triggers a little software calibration love once they’re installed. Just a heads-up: the calibration for both the thumbstick and triggers might be on a break in SteamOS version 3.3, so keep that in mind!
Step 1
No keyboard? No problem! Just tap into the on-screen keyboard to get things rolling on your Steam Deck.
Ready to calibrate? Just open up the terminal window using SteamOS’s trusty console, Konsole.
If your on-screen keyboard is playing hide and seek with the Konsole window, feel free to scoot it around so you can see both!
– First things first, if your device isn’t already rocking desktop mode, hop over to the Steam Menu and choose Power, then select Switch to Desktop. You’re almost there!
– Next up, let’s find that magical Konsole! Pop open the Search menu, type it in, and give it a click.
– And hey, if you need to bring up the on-screen keyboard, just press the Steam Button + X. Easy peasy!
Step 2
Or just type ‘trig’ and hit Tab to let the magic happen with auto-complete!
– Hop into your Konsole and type in trigger_cal.
– Give that Enter key a friendly press!
Step 3
Handle with care! Too much muscle might throw those triggers off their game.
Get ready for the magical moment when the software dances a little jig to calibrate the triggers’ non-depressed resting position.
Feel the excitement as the software throws a mini celebration to calibrate the triggers’ fully-depressed position.
– Give that Konsole window a little tap to bring it back into focus. Now, hit Enter.
– And that’s a wrap! Your triggers are all calibrated, and the terminal should proudly declare, ‘Trigger calibration successful.’
– Make sure both triggers are chill and not pressed down. Go ahead and hit Enter.
– Tap on an empty area of your desktop to move the cursor away from the Konsole window. Let’s make sure Konsole isn’t hogging the spotlight.
– Gently push each trigger down until you feel them hit the bottom. You’ve got this!
