Only for use with CURRENT front panel assemblies.
Ready to give your iPad 4 a fresh start? Follow this guide to swap out those adhesive strips and seal it up like a pro after your repair. Just a heads-up: this is meant for those already rocking the original front panel assemblies.
Step 1
– Let’s get those home button control board screws out of the way! Grab your trusty Phillips #00 screwdriver and remove the two 2.1 mm screws that are holding the control board to the mounting bracket. You’ve got this!
Step 2
– Slide the flat edge of a plastic opening tool gently between the right side of the home button control board and the mounting bracket—it’s like giving it a little nudge!
– Press down on that plastic tool to pop the adhesive holding the home button control board to the bracket—you’re doing great!
– Now, just repeat the same move on the left side to release the adhesive underneath the home button control board. Easy peasy!
Step 3
– Gently lift the home button control board off its cozy spot on the home button mounting bracket and set it aside.
Step 5
Ensure that the home button control board is perfectly aligned with the bottom of the home button mounting bracket. You’ve got this!
– Carefully set the home button control board atop the home button mounting bracket, like placing a crown on a royal head.
Step 6
– Pop those two 2.1 mm Phillips #00 screws back into the home button control board to snugly secure it to the home button mounting bracket. You’ve got this!
Step 7
– Alright, let’s get those last bits of adhesive onto the front panel! You’re doing great!
– But hold on, don’t peel off that clear backing just yet—patience is key here.
– Now, grab that bridge-shaped adhesive strip and position it between the top edge of the inner frame and the camera mounting bracket. It’s like a cozy little home for your camera!
– Gently smooth the strip down from the center outward. Take your time—let’s make sure we don’t trap any pesky air bubbles between the strip and the front panel. We want this to look sharp!
Step 8
– Stick the long, C-shaped adhesive strip onto the right side of the front panel like a pro!
Step 9
It’s a great idea to gently move the home button ribbon cable out of the way while you position the next adhesive strip. You’re doing awesome!
– Stick that straight, medium-length adhesive strip right on the bottom right corner of the front panel, just under the home button ribbon cable. You’re doing great!
Step 10
– Stick that nifty tabbed rectangular adhesive strip right on the bottom right corner of the front panel. You’re doing great!
Step 11
– Stick the long L-shaped adhesive strip right on the bottom left corner of the front panel. You’re doing great!
Step 12
– Stick that short, snazzy adhesive strip right on the top left corner of the front panel. You’ve got this!
Step 13
– Stick the final, petite L-shaped adhesive strip right on the top left corner of the front panel. You’re almost there!
Step 14
Hold off on peeling that clear backing off the strips for now!
– Grab a trusty pair of tweezers and gently lift the clear backing off the adhesive strip that’s hanging out right under the home button ribbon cable. You’ve got this!
– Now, lay that home button ribbon cable down on the adhesive strip and smooth it out from the center towards the edges. Just be careful not to trap any sneaky air bubbles between the strip and the front panel. You’re doing great!
Tools Used
Step 15
Gently lower the front panel onto your iPad, making sure to tuck it neatly within the plastic bezel. Watch out for any sneaky dirt or fingerprints trying to sneak between the glass and the LCD!
For a solid seal, flip the iPad face down on a cozy padded envelope or a soft cloth, then stack a couple of books on top to give that screen a little love. Let it chill like this for a few hours before you dive back in.
– Grab a dry microfiber cloth and gently wipe down that LCD and the inside of the front panel glass. If you’ve got some stubborn dust hanging around, a blast from canned air or an air compressor should do the trick!
– Use a pair of tweezers to carefully lift the clear backing off each adhesive strip. You’re doing great!
