How to Replace iPad 5 Wi-Fi Right Antenna – DIY Guide
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 45 Steps
Handle the battery blocker with care—it’s your trusty sidekick in this adventure!
Get ready to swap out the right-hand antenna in your iPad 5 Wi-Fi! Just a heads up, when you’re isolating the battery with a battery blocker, take it easy—those battery contacts can be a bit fragile and might cause some serious trouble for the logic board if damaged. If you decide to skip the battery isolation, steer clear of metal tools unless absolutely necessary (like for those pesky screws) to keep the battery and sensitive circuit components safe. And remember, if you need help, you can always schedule a repair!
Step 1
– Get your iOpener warmed up and gently place it on the left side of your device for a cool two minutes.

Step 3
Get ready for the next three steps where we introduce the Anti-Clamp! This handy tool is our secret weapon for an easier opening procedure. But hey, if you’re not using the Anti-Clamp, no sweat – just skip ahead three steps for an alternative method.
– Pull the blue handle back to unlock the Anti-Clamp’s arms.
– Place something under your iPad so it’s level between the suction cups.
– Put the suction cups near the middle of the left edge—one on top, one on the bottom.
– Hold the bottom of the Anti-Clamp steady and press down firmly on the top cup to get suction.
Step 4
– Gently pull the cool blue handle forward to lock those arms in place.
– Give that handle a smooth turn clockwise for a full-on 360-degree spin or until those cups are getting their stretch on.
– Keep those suction cups totally in sync, aligned like a dream team. If they start to wander off, just loosen them up a bit and get those arms back in line.
Step 5
– Take a breather for about a minute to let that adhesive relax and create a little gap for you.
– If your screen’s feeling a bit chilly, give it some warmth by gently blowing a hair dryer along the left edge of your iPad.
– Slide an opening pick beneath the digitizer when the Anti-Clamp has made that gap nice and roomy.
– Feel free to skip the next step.
Step 6
– First off, let’s warm up that screen until it’s cozy to the touch. Once it’s feeling nice, grab a suction handle and stick it to the left edge of the screen, right up against the edge.
– Time to lift! Use that suction handle to gently pull the screen away, just enough to create a little gap between the digitizer and the frame.
– Now, slip an opening pick into that gap you just made between the digitizer and the frame. You’re doing great!
If your screen is looking like a spider web, a layer of clear packing tape might just do the trick to help the suction cup stick. You could also opt for some super strong tape if you want to skip the suction cup altogether. And if you’re really in a bind, a little superglue on the suction cup can help it cling to that cracked screen. Remember, if you need help, you can always schedule a repair!

Step 7
No need to panic if the opening pick peeks through the digitizer – just remove it gently. The LCD screen should be safe from harm, but be mindful of leftover adhesive that may be a bit tricky to clean up.
– Pop in another opening pick right next to the first one you inserted.
– Gently glide the pick towards the lower-left corner of your device to separate the sticky stuff.
– Keep that pick snug in the bottom-left and prevent the stickiness from trying to reattach.
Step 8
– If the opening pick gets stuck in the adhesive, just give it a little ‘roll’ along the side of the iPad to keep separating that sticky stuff. Need help? You can always schedule a repair.
Step 9
– Gently slide the trusty opening pick towards the top-left corner of the device to work its magic on the adhesive.
– Park the pick in the cozy top-left corner to keep the adhesive in a good mood and prevent any re-sealing shenanigans.
Step 10
– Warm up your iOpener and give it a cozy two-minute hug on the top edge of your device.

Step 11
– Swing the pick around the top-left corner of your device to loosen that adhesive!
Step 12
Steer clear of dragging the pick over the front camera—you don’t want to risk messing up that lens! The next steps will show you how to avoid this. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
– Gently glide the opening pick along the top edge of your device, making sure to pause just shy of the front camera. You’re doing great!
Step 13
– Gently pull the pick out until just the tip is still nestled between the digitizer and frame.
– Slide the pick over the front camera to gently break the adhesive’s hold.
– Pause for a moment, leaving the pick near the right side of the front camera before moving on.
Step 14
– Hop on over to the top-right corner with your pick and gently slide it in to break up that stubborn adhesive. Go ahead and leave the pick right there in the corner to keep that glue from getting any funny ideas about sticking back together!
Step 15

Step 17
The display cables are hanging out about halfway up from the bottom of your iPad. Just remember to hit the brakes when you’re about three inches from the bottom – no need to go all the way down!
– Grab a new opening pick and gently slide it right into the heart of the iPad’s right edge.

Step 20
– Get ready to slide a shiny new opening pick into that little gap you just made on the bottom edge of your iPad.
– Gently glide the pick over the antenna, making sure to stop just shy of the home button.
– Keep that pick cozy to the left of the home button before you move on to the next step.
Step 21
Slide the pick in gently, up to 1mm, to keep the right antenna safe.
– Gently slide an opening pick into the little gap you’ve just made.
– Carefully maneuver the pick under the home button and glide it towards the bottom-right corner, ensuring that only the tip is nestled between the digitizer and the frame.
Step 22
– Pop that pick back in and slide it toward the home button to fully detach the bottom adhesive.
– Hang tight! Leave the pick just to the right of the home button before moving on.
Step 23
– Warm up your iOpener and give it a cozy two-minute hug on the right edge of your device.

Step 24
Take it easy during this step! Make sure the adhesive is nice and toasty, and gently work to separate all the adhesive with a pick. If you’re feeling unsure, it’s totally okay to pause and reheat. You’ve got this!
If you encounter some resistance, simply warm up the edges and gently slide through with an opening pick.
– Gently twist the two opening picks at the left corners of your iPad to lift the digitizer just a bit, helping to break free the last bits of adhesive along the way. You’ve got this!
Step 26
– With one hand gently supporting the digitizer, slide an opening pick between the two display cables to free up the remaining adhesive. Need a hand? You can always schedule a repair.
