How to Replace iPad 6 Wi-Fi Front Facing Camera – DIY Guide
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 80 Steps
Hey there, remember to handle the battery with care when using a battery blocker. It’s all smooth sailing from here!
Let’s swap out the front-facing camera assembly, including the ambient light sensor, for your iPad 6 Wi-Fi. Be super careful when you isolate the battery with a battery blocker—those battery contacts are delicate and can easily get damaged, potentially leading to irreversible harm to the logic board. If you decide to tackle this without isolating the battery, steer clear of metal tools unless absolutely necessary (like for removing screws) to avoid shorting the battery and damaging sensitive components. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 1
– Warm up an iOpener and place it on the left edge of your device for a cozy two minutes.

Step 2
– While you’re waiting for the adhesive to loosen, take a moment to appreciate the areas that are sensitive to prying:
Step 3
In the next three steps, we’ll show you how to use the Anti-Clamp tool, specially crafted to make the opening process smoother. If you don’t have the Anti-Clamp, feel free to skip ahead three steps for an alternative method.
– Pull back the blue handle to unlock the Anti-Clamp’s arms.
– Place something under your iPad to keep it level between the suction cups.
– Put the suction cups near the middle of the left edge—one on the top, and one on the bottom.
– Hold the bottom of the Anti-Clamp steady and firmly press down on the top cup to create suction.
Step 4
– Give that blue handle a gentle tug forward to lock those arms in place.
– Twist the handle a full 360 degrees or until you see those suction cups start to stretch out.
– Keep an eye on those suction cups to make sure they’re staying in sync. If they start to drift apart, just loosen them a bit and realign those arms.
Step 5
– Take a breather for a minute to let the adhesive loosen up and create a little gap for you.
– If the screen isn’t warming up enough, feel free to give it a gentle blast with a hair dryer along the left edge of the iPad.
– Slide an opening pick beneath the digitizer when the Anti-Clamp has made a gap big enough for you to get in there.
– Go ahead and skip to the next step.
Step 6
If your screen is looking like a spider web, a layer of clear packing tape might just do the trick to help the suction cup stick. You could also opt for some super strong tape if you want to skip the suction cup altogether. And if you’re really in a bind, a little superglue on the suction cup can help it cling to that cracked screen!
– Once your screen is feeling toasty, grab a suction handle and give that left edge a little love—make sure it’s as close to the edge as you can get!
– Gently lift the screen using the suction handle to create a tiny gap between the digitizer and the frame. You’ve got this!
– Slide an opening pick into that little gap you’ve created between the digitizer and the frame. Keep going, you’re on a roll!

Step 7
No worries if you spot the opening pick peeking through the digitizer — just give it a gentle tug and pull it out. Your LCD screen should be just fine, but be mindful of any sticky adhesive that might be left behind. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair!
– Alright, time to insert another opening pick into the gap you just made.
– Gently slide the pick towards the bottom-left corner of your device to work on that adhesive.
– Pop that pick in the bottom-left corner and keep it there to stop the adhesive from sticking back together.
Step 9
– Gently slide the first opening pick into the top-left corner of your device to break that adhesive seal.
– Keep the pick in the top-left corner to stop the adhesive from sticking back together.
Step 10
– Warm up your iOpener and give it a cozy two-minute hug on the top edge of your device.

Step 11
– Gently spin the pick around the upper-left corner of your device to loosen up that sticky situation.
Step 12
Watch out! Keep that pick away from the front camera to avoid any lens mishaps. We’ll show you how to avoid this in the following steps.
– Gently glide the opening pick along the top edge of your device, but stop right before you get to that front camera—it’s important to give it some space!
Step 13
– Gently pull the pick out until just the tip is nestled between the digitizer and the frame.
– Slide the pick above the front camera to break free the adhesive.
– Keep the pick close to the right side of the front camera before moving on.
Step 15
– Warm up the iOpener and gently place it on the right edge of your device for a couple of minutes.

Step 16
– Give the pick a twirl around the top-right corner to loosen up that adhesive. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
Step 17
Make sure to keep an eye out for the display cables located roughly halfway from the bottom of your beloved device. Remember to pause your sliding adventure once you hit about three inches from the bottom. It’s all about precision and care!
– Grab a new opening pick and gently slide it right into the heart of the iPad’s right edge.
Step 18
– Warm up the iOpener and gently place it on the bottom edge of your device for a couple of minutes.

Step 19
– Gently slide the bottom-left pick into the corner to break that adhesive seal like a pro.
– Keep the pick snug in the bottom-left corner before you dive into the next step.
Step 20
– Pop a fresh opening pick into the gap you just made on the bottom edge of the iPad.
– Glide the pick over the antenna, stopping just before you hit the home button.
– Park the pick to the left of the home button before moving on.
Step 21
Be super careful and only slide that pick in up to 1 mm. We want to keep that right antenna safe and sound!
– Gently slide an opening pick into the little gap you’ve just made.
– Carefully maneuver the pick under the home button and glide it towards the bottom-right corner, ensuring that only the tip is nestled between the digitizer and the frame.
Step 22
– Slide the pick back in and shimmy it toward the home button to fully break free the adhesive at the bottom.
– Just leave that pick hanging out to the right of the home button before you move on to the next step.
Step 23
– Warm up your trusty iOpener and give the right edge of the device a cozy two-minute hug.

Step 24
Take it easy with this step. Keep the adhesive warm and soft, and make sure you’ve cleared it all with a pick. No shame in pausing to reheat if needed.
If you encounter resistance, give the edges a little heat and gently make your way through with an opening pick.
– Gently twist the two opening picks at the left corners of your iPad to lift the digitizer just a bit, helping to break free the last bits of adhesive along the way. You’ve got this!
Step 25
– Gently lift the left edge of the digitizer up to ease the adhesive along the right side of the iPad. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 26
– As you give a little love to the digitizer, gently slide an opening pick between the two display cables to break free the last bit of adhesive holding them together.
Step 27
– Now that you’ve successfully separated all the pesky adhesive, it’s time to open up that digitizer just like a book! Gently lay it down parallel to the iPad.
– As you put everything back together, make sure to give the frame and digitizer a good wipe-down with isopropyl alcohol to remove any leftover adhesive. If you’re reusing the digitizer, show it some love with our
