Step 1
Give your microwave a quick clean before diving in! Any stubborn bits of gunk hanging out at the bottom could hitch a ride on the iOpener, and we definitely don’t want that. Keep it tidy for a smoother repair experience!
– Pop the iOpener right in the center of the microwave and let it soak up the warmth!

Step 2
Watch out for overheating that iOpener! If it gets too hot, it might just pop on you. Keep it under 100˚C (212˚F) to keep the fun going.
If the iOpener looks like it’s puffing up, steer clear! Safety first, folks.
If the center of the iOpener is still a bit too toasty to handle, hang tight and let it chill for a bit longer before warming it up again. A nicely heated iOpener should stay cozy for about 10 minutes.
– Give that iOpener a warm-up in the microwave for thirty seconds.
– As you work through the repair, keep the iOpener cozy by reheating it for another thirty seconds whenever it starts to cool down.

Step 3
Careful now! The iOpener is going to be quite toasty, so handle it with care. An oven mitt might be your best buddy here!
– Carefully take the iOpener out of the microwave, gripping one of the flat ends to steer clear of that hot center. Stay safe and keep it cool!

Step 4
No microwave? No problem! Just pop your iOpener in a pot of boiling water to heat it up.
– Grab a pot or pan and fill it up with enough water to give your iOpener a nice swim.
– Heat that water until it’s bubbling away. Once it’s boiling, turn off the heat.
– Gently place the iOpener in the hot water for about 2-3 minutes, making sure it’s fully submerged for a cozy soak.
– Using some tongs, carefully fish out the warmed-up iOpener from the water.
– Give the iOpener a good dry-off with a towel so it’s ready to roll.
– And voilà! Your iOpener is all set for action! If it needs a little more warmth, just repeat the water boiling dance and let it soak for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 5
Put on those safety glasses to keep your peepers safe, and watch out for that LCD screen—it’s more fragile than it looks!
– Got a cracked display? No worries! Let’s keep that glass from shattering further and protect your fingers while you work by sticking some tape over it.
– Grab some clear packing tape and lay down overlapping strips over the iPad’s display until it’s completely covered. It’s like giving your device a little protective blanket!
– Now, just follow the rest of the guide as best as you can. Keep in mind, once that glass starts cracking, it might decide to keep on doing so while you’re working. You might need to bring out a metal prying tool to help scoop out those broken pieces.
Step 6
Just a friendly reminder: while you’re getting into this repair adventure, keep those safety glasses handy! We want to make sure you’re protected from any unexpected flying glass shards. Safety first, right?
– Place the iOpener flat against the right edge of your iPad, giving it a little nudge so it makes nice contact with the surface. We want it to feel cozy!
– Let that bag chill on the iPad for about 90 seconds before you dive in to open the front panel. Patience is key, my friend!

Step 7
Getting that little wedge of the opening tool between the glass and plastic might take a bit of muscle. Take your time and stay cool, gently wiggling the tool back and forth as needed. You’ve got this!
– You’ll notice a tiny little gap in the iPad’s adhesive ring located in the upper right corner, about 2.0 inches (~5 cm) down from the top. Let’s take advantage of this little weakness, shall we?
– Position your tool near the mute button. Gently slide the tip of a plastic opening tool into that gap between the front glass and the plastic bezel. Just insert the very tip—enough to create a bit of space for the next steps.
Step 9
– With the plastic opening tool nestled snugly between the front glass and the plastic bezel, gently slide a plastic opening pick into that little gap right next to the tool. You’re doing great!
Step 10
– Gently lift that plastic opening tool out of your iPad, and slide the opening pick a little deeper under the front glass, aiming for about half an inch. You’re doing great!
Step 12
This adhesive means business! You might need to put in a bit of elbow grease, so take your time and work with care.
If you spot the tip of the opening pick peeking out from under the front glass, give it a gentle tug. While it’s perfectly safe to use the pick this deep, it might leave a bit of adhesive residue on your LCD. Just a little heads up!
– While the iOpener works its magic on the bottom edge, start peeling back the adhesive on the right edge of your iPad.
– Gently slide the opening pick down the side of the iPad, freeing up that sticky adhesive as you go.

Step 13
You might need to slide that warm iOpener back over to the right edge of your iPad while you peel off the adhesive. How long you’ve been working on it will determine if that’s necessary, especially if your iPad has had some cool-down time.
– If your trusty opening pick is feeling a bit clingy in the adhesive, just give it a gentle ‘roll’ along the side of the iPad. Keep at it, and you’ll be freeing that sticky stuff in no time!

Step 14
– Before you dive in and pop out that first opening pick from the bottom corner of your iPad, be sure to slide a second pick under the right edge of the front glass. This little move will keep the adhesive from sticking back together and give you a smoother experience!
– Give your iOpener a quick reheat, and then place it at the top edge of the iPad. Let’s keep the warmth flowing!

Step 15
Hey there! Just a quick heads-up: the Wi-Fi antenna is snugly attached to the bottom right edge of the iPad’s rear case with some screws and a cable. Since the antenna has a specific orientation, be sure to take it easy while working on it—otherwise, you might accidentally cause some irreversible damage to that little guy. You’ve got this!
– Alright, friends, it’s time to tread carefully over the next few steps. Think of it like a delicate dance!
– You’ll need to gently free the adhesive that’s keeping the antenna snug against the front panel. Just be super mindful of the fragile bits connecting the antenna to the bottom of the iPad. Take your time and follow the upcoming steps with care!
Step 16
Be careful not to slide the pick too far past the bottom right corner. Doing so could put a dent in your Wi-Fi antenna’s day!
– Gently glide the opening pick around the bottom right corner of the iPad to free the adhesive. You’ve got this!
Step 17
As you glide that opening pick along the bottom right edge of the front panel, keep an eye out! The Wi-Fi antenna is hanging out near the corner, and it’s a bit of a delicate flower—snagging it could lead to some unwanted drama. So, handle with care and let’s keep everything intact!
Don’t go all out and yank that pick from under the front glass! Just ease it out a smidge so that about 1/8″ (3 mm) of the tip stays cozy under there.
– Gently glide the opening pick’s tip along the bottom edge of the iPad to loosen the adhesive around the Wi-Fi antenna. You’ve got this!
Step 18
– After you’ve bypassed the Wi-Fi antenna (about 3″ (75 mm) from the right edge or just beside the home button), slide that trusty opening pick back in all the way.
– Gently glide the pick to the right to break free the adhesive that’s keeping the Wi-Fi antenna snug against the front glass.
Step 19
Keep the iOpener’s heat game strong, but don’t overdo it! A minute is all it needs at a time, and give it a little breather of at least two minutes before turning up the heat again.
If the adhesive has gotten a bit too chill on the bottom edge, just give that iOpener a quick reheat to warm things up where you’re working. Keep it cozy!
– Keep on peeling away that adhesive at the bottom of your iPad! Gently pull the opening pick out far enough to navigate around the home button, and then pop it back in, going about 1/2 inch (10 mm) deep once you’re past the home button. You’ve got this!
Tools Used
Step 20
– Keep peeling back that adhesive along the bottom edge of the iPad until it’s all gone! You’re doing great!
– Once you’ve got that adhesive sorted, slide the opening pick snugly under the front glass close to the home button. You’re almost there!
Step 22
If your adhesive is feeling a bit chilly, just swap out the iOpener along the top edge and keep going. If that iOpener has lost its heat, give it a little reheat to get back in the game!
– Gently glide the opening pick along the top edge of your iPad, giving it a little tug to navigate around the front-facing camera bracket.
– Be prepared, as the adhesive in this area is quite robust—some elbow grease might be needed! Take your time and proceed with caution to avoid any mishaps with yourself or your iPad.
– If your opening pick is feeling a bit stuck in the adhesive, try giving it a little ‘roll’ just like we showed you in step 9.
Tools Used
Step 23
If the adhesive is feeling cozy, go ahead and take the iOpener off the iPad for a smoother experience. But if it’s still clinging on like a stubborn friend, just give the iOpener another heat-up and place it on the left edge while you tackle the task.
– Keep peeling away the adhesive at the top edge of your iPad, and gently maneuver the opening pick around the top left corner like a pro.

Step 24
The digitizer cable is hiding about 2 inches (50 mm) up from the bottom of your iPad. Once you reach around 2.25 inches (60 mm) from the bottom, it’s time to stop sliding that pick!
– Gently glide that opening pick along the left edge of your iPad, and watch the adhesive give way like magic! No worries, the adhesive is pretty thin here thanks to the digitizer hanging out along the entire left side. Just keep your pick at a safe depth – no more than 1/2 inch (that’s 10 mm) – to keep the digitizer happy and intact. You’ve got this!
Step 25
Be super careful! The digitizer cable is hanging out just about an inch (25 mm) from the bottom of the iPad. Take your time and work gently so you don’t accidentally cut this cable.
– With the trusty opening pick still nestled beneath the bottom edge of your iPad, gently work to loosen the adhesive in the bottom left corner. You’re almost there!
Step 26
– Grab an opening pick and gently lift the bottom right corner of your iPad. Once it’s up, give it a friendly pinch with your fingers to hold it in place.
Step 27
Watch out for any sticky stuff that might still be hanging on! Grab an opening pick and gently slice through any adhesive that’s keeping the front panel in place.
– Grab your iPad by the top and bottom right corners and gently twist that front glass away from the device like a pro.
– When you’re putting it all back together, don’t forget to give the LCD a little love! Use a microfiber cloth and some compressed air to wipe away any dust or fingerprints before sealing it up with the glass.
Step 28
The bottom left screw is hiding behind the home button ribbon cable connector. Gently nudge the ribbon cable aside to free that pesky bottom left screw.
– Let’s get things started by unscrewing those four tiny 2 mm Phillips #00 screws holding the LCD snugly against the aluminum frame. You’ve got this!
Step 29
Handle the LCD with care! That ribbon cable is as delicate as it gets, and too much bending could lead to a break. Keep it cool and take your time!
– Grab your trusty plastic opening tool or a spudger and gently lift the right edge of the LCD away from the iPad.
– Now, swing the LCD around its left edge and rest it on top of the front glass panel, like it’s taking a little break.
