How to Replace LG G6 USB Port – DIY Guide
Duration: 30 min.
Steps: 13 Steps
In this guide, we show you how to replace your G6’s defective USB connector. You need this repair if your computer doesn’t recognize your phone, or you can’t charge it.
Step 1
– Give your device a little break by pressing and holding the power button on the back until you see the ‘Power off’ option pop up.
– Go ahead and tap that option to confirm, then sit back and watch as the screen fades to black.
Step 2
– Warm up that rear glass like it’s a chilly day! It’s stuck tight all around the edges, the home button, and even over the USB port.
– Slide the iFlex in gently between the rear glass and the frame, but keep it to a maximum of 5 mm for a safe and smooth entry.
Hey there! Just a friendly reminder to handle that back cover with care—it’s a bit fragile! Instead of prying, gently slide your tool around the edges. If it’s being stubborn, don’t hesitate to warm it up a bit and give it another go. Patience is key here; taking your time will help you avoid any mishaps. Remember, if you need help, you can always schedule a repair!
Step 3
4 × 2.7 mm Phillips
The LG G6 keeps things simple with just one screw length, and only the midframe and speaker are held in place with screws. Nice and easy, right? If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
– First up, grab those equal-length Phillips screws from the speaker and keep them safe for later use.
– Next, gently pry the speaker away from the side of the battery and lift it out of the device.
Step 6
Don’t bend the logic board, since it breaks easily.
– Unplug the two connectors on the lower side of the logic board.
– Then first pry out the lower side of the logic board. Also unclip the logic board on the other points where it’s clipped in.
Step 7
Your spare part might come with a plastic board or it might not. If you find yourself without a plastic board, no worries! Just warm up the old USB connector and gently pry it off with a flat tool. After that, simply attach the new part to the plastic board. Easy peasy! And remember, if you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
– Yeet that pesky plastic board outta the USB port!
– Peace out, plastic part! Time to get outta here!
Step 8
– Place the USB port back in its opening.
– Press it in. You should feel a light snap.
Step 9
Make sure this little buddy and its companions stay out from under the board while you put it back together.
– First check if the pin for the SIM tray is in place. If not, put it back in its opening.
– Place the logic board back into the device.
Step 10
Battery Connector
– Slide the battery connector onto its little home, and give it a gentle push.
Step 11
7 × 2.7 mm Phillips
– Return the midframe to its home in the device and give it some good pressure.
– Make it snuggly with the Phillips screws.
Step 12
4 × 2.7 mm Phillips
– Gently nestle the speaker into its cozy spot in the device and give it a little press to make it feel at home.
– Tighten up those Phillips screws like you mean it!
Step 13
Sizzle that back glass with a kiss of heat again, so the adhesive can truly party.
– Place the rear glass back on the device and press it on.
