How To Replace MacBook Pro 15 Speakers Tutorial

Bring the groove back to your laptop by swapping out those tired speakers! If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

Step 1

– Use your fingers to push both battery release tabs away from the battery, and then lift that battery out of the computer. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

Step 2

– Pop out those three Phillips screws from the memory door like a boss.

– Pro tip: Keep track of which screws came from where. It’ll make reassembly a breeze!

Step 3

– Gently lift the memory door just enough to get a good grip, then slide it towards you to pop it out from the casing. Take it easy, you’ve got this!

Step 4

– First, let’s tackle those two Phillips screws hanging out in the battery compartment by the latch. Grab your screwdriver and give them a twist!

Step 5

– Time to show those screws who’s boss! Remove these fantastic 6 screws:

– Pop out those four Phillips screws on the port side of the computer like a pro!

Step 7

– Give your computer a cool 90-degree spin and pop out those two Phillips screws from the back. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair

Step 8

– Give your computer a little twist and turn it 90 degrees once more so you can access the side. Now, let’s tackle those four Phillips screws waiting to be removed. You’ve got this!

Step 9

– Start by lifting the back of the case and gently work your fingers along the edges, releasing the case as you go. Once the sides are free, you might need to give the case a little rock up and down to loosen the front of the upper case. This part can be a bit tricky, but you’ve got this! Just above the DVD reader, you’ll find 4 tabs set back that need to be pulled out vertically.

– Keep an eye on the two small tabs on the left side of the upper case—they might bend a bit while you’re removing it. No worries! When you’re putting it back together, just bend them back into shape so they fit snugly into the grooves of the lower case.

Step 10

– Let’s get those cables disconnected! Gently unplug the trackpad and keyboard ribbon cable from the logic board, and feel free to peel away any tape that’s holding it down. You’re doing great!

– Now, it’s time to lift off the upper case. Go ahead and remove it carefully, revealing the inner workings of your device. You’re on the right track!

Step 11

– Unplug the display data cable from the logic board like a boss!

Step 12

– Gently peel off and lift away the orange foil shield located near the right speaker.

Step 13

– Unscrew the shiny T6 Torx that’s holding the ground loop of the display data cable snugly against the casing. You’ve got this!

Step 14

– Give the speaker a smooth clockwise twist about 30 degrees until it pops free from the logic board. Need a hand? You can always schedule a repair.

Step 15

– Gently lift the gray and black speaker wires off the top of the logic board. You might encounter some sneaky tape—feel free to remove it as you go!

Step 16

– Grab your spudger and give that brown plastic flap on the logic board a little flip to free the left ambient light sensor cable.

– Gently slide the left ambient light sensor cable to the left and out of its cozy connector.

Step 17

– Gently lift the left ambient light sensor cable away from the area above the left fan. Keep it steady and take your time!

Step 18

– Unhook the two antenna cables from the Airport Extreme card.

– The white antenna cable hooks up to the left side of the Airport Extreme card.

Step 19

– Start off by unscrewing that lone silver Phillips screw hanging out just above the Airport Extreme card. It’s time for it to say goodbye!

– Next, gently lift the small silver metal retaining bracket out of its cozy spot in the computer. It’s ready to take a break!

Step 20

– Gently peel back that orange tape on the right side of the Airport Extreme card like you’re opening a present.

– Lift the Airport Extreme card up like a champ and slide it out of its connector.

Step 21

– Gently unplug the orange hard drive ribbon cable from the logic board. You’ve got this!

Step 22

– Gently lift the orange hard drive ribbon from above the ExpressCard cage, like you’re unwrapping a present!

Step 23

– To kick things off, gently detach the speaker cable from the front right corner of the left I/O board.

Step 24

– Unscrew those 2 little screws and set them aside like they’re on a mini vacation!

Step 25

– Gently lift out the left and right speakers from the computer.

Step 26

– Let’s kick things off by removing that lone silver Phillips screw holding the left ambient light sensor cover snugly against the speaker. You’ve got this!

– Now, gently lift off the clear plastic ambient light sensor cover. It’s as easy as pie!

Step 27

– Grab your trusty spudger and gently nudge the left ambient light sensor board out of its cozy spot in the left speaker housing. You’ve got this!
