How to Replace the Nintendo 64 Bottom Cover: Step-by-Step Guide

Let’s get that bottom cover off, shall we? Here’s how you do it.
Step 1
– Gently push the tab to release the expansion pack cover, then pull it out with a steady hand. You’re almost there!
Step 3
– Unscrew the six screws on the bottom side, just like the example shows, using a gamebit head or screwdriver. You’ve got this!
Step 4
– Pop off those two front feet of the N64 like a pro!
Step 5
– Flip your device over so the top side is facing up, then gently lift off the top cover with a smile!
Step 6
– Grab your trusty larger Phillips screwdriver and tackle those fourteen screws shown in the example. You’ve got this!
Step 7
– Slide the metal plate back and lift it up, just like in the example. Easy-peasy!
Step 8
– Grab your trusty smaller Phillips screwdriver and pop out those two screws as shown in the example. Easy peasy!
Step 9
– Grab your trusty larger Phillips screwdriver and unscrew the screw hanging out to the right of the LED light. Easy peasy!
Step 10
– Gently detach the tiny metal bracket from the back of the expansion pack slot. You’ve got this!
Step 11
– Use the metal spudger to gently lift the small metal bracket from the front of the expansion pack slot. It should come off easily with a little nudge!

– Gently pry off the tiny metal bracket hiding behind the expansion slot using your trusty spudger. You’ve got this!
Step 13
– Let’s get started! Remove the seven screws shown in the example using the larger Phillips screwdriver. This is the first step in getting your device up and running again.
Step 14
– Time to get started! Carefully lift off and remove the metal plate, just like you see in the example. Easy peasy!
Step 15
– Grab your trusty #1 Phillips screwdriver and unscrew the four screws shown in the diagram. Easy peasy—you’re absolutely rocking this!
Step 16
– Gently lift the motherboard out and set it aside, like a pro!
Step 17
– You’re almost done! To put everything back together, just follow these steps in reverse. Easy peasy!
