iPhone 11 Black Screen/ No Display Backlight Repair
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 5 Steps
Ready to bring your iPhone 11’s screen back to life? Follow this straightforward guide to fix that pesky no backlight issue. Let’s get your phone glowing again!
Step 1
- Alright, let's kick things off by popping in that motherboard. Hook up the screen and battery to the motherboard—like plugging in your phone's vital organs.
- Hit the power button and watch for the Apple logo. It's peeking through! The phone powers up, but the backlight is taking a nap.
Step 2
- First, gently remove the screen and disconnect the battery. Grab your multimeter and switch it to diode mode. Now, check the diode values for pins 26, 24, 22, 20, 18, and 16 on J8000. Pin 24 and 18? They won't show any values, but no worries, that's normal. For the other pins, you're looking for a reading around 400-500. If you see anything way off, it could be a sign of an open circuit.
- Next up, the components under pins 24 and 18 are tucked away beneath a shielding cover. Time to get that cover off. Make sure you protect the connectors with some high-temperature tape so they stay safe while you work your magic.
Step 3
- Grab your trusty Hot Air Gun and set it to 380 °C with a gentle airflow of 60. Now, carefully warm up that shielding cover until it’s nice and cozy. Time to whip out your Sculpture Knife and gently pry it up! Under the microscope, you'll spot R5651 and R5661 looking a bit worse for wear—they’ve burnt out!
Step 4
- Start by slathering on some Paste Flux, it's like giving your components a nice little spa treatment.
- Using a Hot Air Gun set to a toasty 360 °C with a gentle airflow of 40, carefully remove the resistors. Remember, it's all about that precision!
- Now for the fun part! Apply some medium-temperature Solder Paste and keep the heat from your Hot Air Gun flowing. Since we couldn't find exact replacements for those resistors, we're getting creative with iPhone 7 backlight protection inductors. Heat things up to solder those inductors in place, and you'll be well on your way to a successful repair!
Step 5
- Now it’s time to put everything back together! Just retrace your steps, and you'll have your device up and running in no time. If you hit any bumps along the way, don't hesitate to schedule a repair for some extra help.
