iPhone 11 SIM Card Reader Replacement

Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 32 Steps

The iPhone 11’s SIM card reader is a separate module, so you can swap it out without messing with the logic board. If your SIM card or cellular connection is acting up, giving the SIM reader a replacement might just do the trick.

Step 1

- Before you get hands-on, give your iPhone a nap and turn it off.

- Show those two 6.7 mm pentalobe screws at the bottom some love—unscrew them and set them aside.

Step 2

- Measure about 3mm from the tip and use a permanent marker to make a small mark on the opening pick. It's like giving your tool a little guide so it knows where to start!

Step 3

- Cover the entire iPhone screen with overlapping strips of clear packing tape until it's fully wrapped.

- If the suction cup refuses to stick in the upcoming steps, try folding a sturdy piece of tape (like duct tape) into a little handle and use that to lift the screen instead.

Step 4

- Pull that blue handle back like you're opening a secret vault—this unlocks the Anti-Clamp’s arms.

- Slide the arms onto either side of your iPhone, left or right, your choice.

- Place the suction cups near the bottom edge, one up top, one down low—think of it as giving your phone a gentle bear hug.

- Squeeze the cups together so they stick to your phone’s surface.

Step 5

- Slide that blue handle forward—arms locked and loaded.

- Spin the handle all the way around (yep, a full 360!) or until you see the cups start to stretch.

- Keep an eye on those suction cups; they need to stick together like besties. If they start drifting apart, loosen things up and get them back in line.

Step 6

- Warm up an iOpener and thread it carefully through the arms of the Anti-Clamp.

- Fold the iOpener so it rests along the bottom edge of the iPhone.

- Hold tight for one minute to let the adhesive soften and create a little gap for opening.

- Gently slide an opening pick into the gap between the screen and the plastic bezel—avoid inserting it under the screen itself.

- Skip the next three steps.

Step 9

- Grab the suction cup and pull up steadily and firmly to gently create a small gap between the front panel and the back case.

- Slide an opening pick into the gap beneath the screen and the plastic bezel—make sure you're not wedging it under the screen itself!

Step 10

- Gently slide the opening pick around the bottom left corner and glide it up the left side of your iPhone, carefully cutting through the adhesive that’s keeping the display stuck in place.

Step 11

Step 12

- Slide your pick back into the bottom edge of the iPhone, then gently work it up the right side to keep peeling away that stubborn adhesive.

Step 13

- Carefully tug down on the right side of the display—think of it as gently coaxing it toward the Lightning port.

- Slip your pick into the top-right corner of your phone, like you’re sneaking it into a secret clubhouse.

Step 14

- Gently tug the display downward toward the Lightning port. Keep pulling until you've made enough space for the pick to slide in.

- Now, take your pick and slide it up to the top-left corner. Use it to slice through any remaining adhesive that’s still holding the display in place.

Step 15

- Give that little tab on the suction cup a gentle tug to pop it off the front panel.

Step 16

- Let's get this iPhone party started! Gently swing the display upwards from the left side, just like opening a book.

- Now, give that display a sturdy prop to lean on – it deserves a break!

- When it's time to put it all back together, lay the display carefully in its rightful spot, align those clips along the top edge, and give the top edge a little nudge to snap it into place. If it’s being a bit stubborn and doesn’t click easily, take a moment to check those clips around the display's perimeter – make sure they’re not feeling bent out of shape!

Step 17

- To get to those sneaky screws in the next step, just give your display a little tilt by gently lifting its lower edge. You've got this!

Step 18

- Grab your Y000 driver and carefully remove the three 1.1 mm screws holding down the battery connector bracket.

- When putting everything back together, this is a perfect moment to power on your iPhone and give all the functions a quick test before sealing the display. Don’t forget to shut it down completely again before moving forward.

Step 19

- Take off the bracket and set it aside like a pro.

Step 20

- Grab a spudger or your clean fingernail and gently lift the battery connector out of its spot on the logic board.

- Carefully bend the connector a bit away from the board so it doesn't accidentally make contact with the socket.

- One screw is 1.5 mm long.

- Another one measures 1.9 mm.

- And the last screw securing the grounding bracket is 1.6 mm.

Step 28

- Grab your trusty standoff driver and carefully remove the 3.1mm screw that’s holding the SIM card reader connector bracket in place.

Step 29

- Pop off that SIM reader connector bracket like a pro.

Step 30
