iPhone 13 mini Bottom Speaker Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 27 Steps
In this guide, we’re going to show you how to swap out or remove the bottom speaker in your iPhone 13 mini. Make sure you’ve got some replacement adhesive on hand to reattach everything when you’re putting it back together. It’s a pretty straightforward fix, but if you get stuck, don’t worry—just schedule a repair for a helping hand!
Step 1
Hey there! For your safety, make sure to drain that battery below 25% before diving into your phone's guts. This little precaution helps keep any unexpected thermal surprises at bay if the battery gets a bit too adventurous during repairs. And if you've got a swollen battery, be smart and take the right precautions!
Popping open your iPhone's display will break its waterproof seals. Make sure you have fresh replacement seals handy before moving forward, or be extra careful to keep your phone away from any liquids if you put it back together without swapping them out.
- First things first, let's give your iPhone a little nap – power it off before we dive into the disassembly fun!
- Now, grab your trusty pentalobe P2 screwdriver and remove those two 6.8 mm-long screws at the bottom edge of your iPhone. They're just waiting for you!
Step 2
Pushing your opening pick in too deep can cause damage—let's avoid that! Mark your pick to keep things safe and sound.
Feel free to mark the other edges of your pick with different measurements for extra precision.
Another neat trick: tape a coin to your pick about 3 mm from the tip to keep your depth in check.
- Measure 3 mm from the tip and mark the opening pick with a permanent marker. Precision is key, so take your time here!
Step 3
Pop on some safety glasses—let’s keep those peepers protected in case any glass tries to make a break for it during your repair.
Got a cracked iPhone screen? Keep those pesky shards in check and avoid any accidental ouchies by taping over the glass before you dive into the repair.
If the suction cup just won’t stick, no worries—try giving it a little help by supergluing it onto the screen.
- Grab some clear packing tape and lay down overlapping strips over the iPhone's screen until you've got the whole face covered like a cozy blanket.
- If the suction cup is giving you a hard time in the next steps, no worries! Just fold a sturdy piece of tape (like duct tape) into a handy handle and use that to lift the screen instead. You've got this!
Step 4
The next three steps walk you through the Anti-Clamp, a handy tool we created to make opening your device a breeze. If you’re not using the Anti-Clamp, just skip ahead three steps for another way to open it.
For detailed tips on using the Anti-Clamp, check out this guide.
If your iPhone’s surface is feeling a bit too slick for the Anti-Clamp to grip, try adding some tape to give it a better hold.
- Pull back the blue handle to free the Anti-Clamp's arms and get ready for action.
- Slide the arms over the left or right edge of your iPhone – whichever feels right.
- Place the suction cups near the bottom edge of the iPhone – one on the front and one on the back, like a couple of trusty sidekicks.
- Give the cups a gentle squeeze to create suction and stick them firmly where you need them.
Step 5
- Pull the blue handle forward to lock the arms into place.
- Turn the handle clockwise a full 360 degrees, or until you feel the cups start to stretch. You'll know it's working when it starts to pull some tension.
- Keep an eye on the suction cups and make sure they stay aligned with each other. If they slip out of line, just loosen them a bit and realign the arms to get everything back on track.
Step 6
Easy does it—turn no more than a quarter twist at a time, and give it a minute between moves. Patience is key here; let the Anti-Clamp do its thing!
Need the lowdown on wielding a hair dryer for repairs? We've got a guide for that—go check it out.
If the Anti-Clamp isn’t giving you enough wiggle room, blast a bit more heat on the spot and give the handle a quarter turn.
- Place your iPhone on a solid surface like a hardcover book so it stays steady and flat—this makes the next steps way easier.
- Warm up the bottom edge of your iPhone using a hair dryer until it feels just a bit too hot to touch.
- Give it a minute to let the adhesive loosen and create a small gap for you to work with.
- Once the Anti-Clamp has made a big enough opening, carefully slide an opening pick under the screen's plastic bezel.
- Skip the next three steps.

Step 7
Keep your hair dryer moving—don’t let it chill in one spot for too long!
- Grab a hair dryer or heat gun and warm up the bottom edge of your iPhone for about 90 seconds. You’re aiming for a screen that’s just a little too hot for comfort—like a summer sidewalk, not a lava pit!

Step 8
- If you're rocking a single suction handle, stick it right on the bottom edge of your phone, getting as close to the edge as you can!

Step 9
Be sure to slip that pick between the plastic bezel and the metal frame. If you accidentally wedge it between the glass screen and the plastic bezel, you might just give your screen a nasty surprise!
The adhesive that keeps the screen snug as a bug is super tough! Getting that first little gap open requires some serious elbow grease. If you're finding it tricky to pry things apart, don't hesitate to warm it up a bit more and gently wiggle the screen up and down. This will help loosen the adhesive, giving you just enough room to slip in your trusty tool.
- Give that suction cup a good tug with steady pressure to open up a little gap between the screen and the frame. You've got this!
- Slide an opening pick into the newly formed gap right under the screen's plastic bezel. Easy peasy!
Step 10
- Grab that trusty hair dryer and give the right side of your iPhone (the one with the power button) a warm hug for about 90 seconds, or until it feels just a tad too warm to touch.
Tools Used
Step 11
Keep your pick to a maximum of 3 mm and avoid forcing it through any cold adhesive areas—otherwise, it might slip and cause a ruckus with your internal components.
- Gently slide the opening pick around the bottom right corner and up along the right edge of the iPhone, carefully slicing through the adhesive that’s keeping the display stuck.
- Keep the pick tucked in at the top right corner before moving on to the next step.
Step 12
- Grab your hair dryer and warm up the top edge of your iPhone for about 90 seconds, or until it feels just a bit too hot to touch. This helps loosen things up for the next step!

Step 13
Keep your pick insertion to under 3 mm to avoid messing up those delicate top sensors.
- Glide that opening pick around the top right corner of your iPhone, and watch the sticky stuff loosen up.
- Let the pick chill out in the top left corner for now—don't rush it!
Step 14
- Time to warm things up! Grab your hair dryer and heat the left edge of your iPhone for about 90 seconds, or until it’s just a bit too hot to comfortably touch. This helps loosen that stubborn adhesive and makes the next step easier.

Step 15
Heads up! There are some fragile cables running along the left edge of your iPhone. Avoid sliding your pick in there to keep everything safe and sound.
Step 16
Gently twist and turn, don’t rush it! Patience is key.
If the adhesive is being stubborn, give the left edge a little extra warmth with a heat source.
- Slide a second opening pick into the bottom left corner of the iPhone.
- Twist both picks together until you hear that satisfying click as the left edge clips pop free.
Step 17
- Give that little nub on the suction cup a gentle tug to free it from the front panel.
Step 18
Hold up! Don’t pull the display all the way off just yet—there are still some delicate ribbon cables hooking it up to the iPhone’s logic board.
- First things first, rotate your iPhone so the right edge is staring right back at you.
- Next up, open your iPhone by swinging the display up from the right side, just like you're flipping open the front cover of a book.
- Now, lean that display against something sturdy to keep it propped up while you work your magic on the phone.
- When it's time to put everything back together, lay the display down in its rightful place, line up those clips along the top edge, and gently press the top edge into position before giving the rest of the display a little snap down. If it doesn't click into place easily, take a moment to check those clips around the display's perimeter and make sure they're not bent out of shape.
Step 19
- Unscrew the tiny 1.2 mm Y000 screw holding down the battery and display connector cover—think of it as unplugging your phone's security system.
- Before you close things up, it's a smart move to power on your iPhone and make sure everything's working. Once you've checked it out, shut it down completely to keep things safe while you finish the job.
- Keep each screw with its original spot—mixing them up is like putting mismatched shoes together, and your iPhone won't appreciate it.
Step 20
- Grab your trusty tweezers and carefully lift off the battery and display connector cover.
Step 21
Be gentle with the black silicone seal around this and other board connections. These little seals are like tiny bodyguards, keeping water and dust out of your device.
- Grab a spudger and gently pop up the battery and OLED panel cable connectors from their sockets on the logic board.
- Give the connector a little bend away from the logic board so it doesn’t accidentally touch the socket and power up the phone while you’re working.
- When it’s time to snap the connectors back in, line up one side carefully and press down until you hear a click, then do the same for the other side. Avoid pressing the middle—if it’s off-center, those pins might bend and cause permanent damage.

Step 22
- Let's kick things off by removing the three screws that are holding the front sensor assembly cover in place:
- One PH000 screw, 1.4 mm long
- One Y000 screw, 1.8 mm long
- One Y000 screw, 1.2 mm long
Step 23
- Grab a trusty pair of tweezers and carefully pop off the connector cover for the front sensor assembly. You've got this!
Step 24
- Grab a spudger and gently pry away the front sensor assembly cable connector. It should come off without too much resistance, just be careful not to tug too hard.

Step 25
- Take off the display assembly—be gentle, your device likes a soft touch.
- If you want to refresh the waterproof adhesive, this is the perfect pit stop during reassembly.
Step 26
- Unscrew the four tiny 1.5 mm Phillips screws holding the speaker in place. Keep them safe!
Step 27
- Grab your tweezers and carefully lift out the speaker with a steady hand.
