iPhone 13 Pro Loudspeaker Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 29 Steps
Get ready to tackle the exciting adventure of swapping out the loudspeaker in your iPhone 13 Pro! With this guide in hand, you'll be on your way to restoring those crisp sounds in no time. Let's dive in and make some noise!
Step 1
Heads up: Make sure your iPhone’s battery is under 25% charged before starting. A fully charged lithium-ion battery is like a tiny firecracker—poke it the wrong way and it might just burst into flames or explode. Safety first!
Cracking open your iPhone’s display will break those waterproof seals, so if you’re planning on getting it wet again, grab some fresh seals before you finish the job. If you’re skipping the replacement, just keep your phone away from any pool parties or spilled drinks.
- Before you dive in, shut down your iPhone completely. Trust us—your phone prefers napping during surgery.
- Flip it over and unscrew those two 6.8 mm pentalobe P2 screws chilling at the bottom edge. It’s like loosening a couple of bolts on a roller coaster—except way less terrifying!
Step 2
Push the pick in too far and your device might get a little cranky. Here’s a quick trick—mark your pick so you know exactly how deep to go.
Feeling extra precise? Mark all the corners of your pick with different measurements for maximum control.
Or, if you want a bit of DIY flair, tape a coin to your pick about 3 mm from the tip. It’s like a bumper for your pick.
- Grab your trusty permanent marker and measure out 3 mm from the tip of your opening pick. Give it a little mark to remember where to go – it's like leaving a tiny breadcrumb for your repair adventure!
Step 3
Pop on some safety glasses—nobody wants a surprise shard of glass in the eye while you’re getting hands-on.
Got a cracked screen? No worries! Tape it up to keep the shards in check and make sure no accidental cuts happen while you get your repair on.
If you're really stuck, a little superglue on the suction cup might just do the trick to keep it in place while you work. Just be careful!
- Cover the iPhone screen with overlapping strips of clear packing tape, like you're wrapping a gift with extra love.
- If the suction cup refuses to cooperate in the next steps, get creative: fold a sturdy piece of tape (duct tape works wonders) into a handle and use it to lift the screen instead.

Step 4
The next three steps showcase the Anti-Clamp, a handy tool we created to make opening your device a breeze. If you’re not using the Anti-Clamp, just skip ahead three steps for another way to get it done.
For detailed instructions on how to use the Anti-Clamp, check out this guide.
If your iPhone’s surface feels too slippery for the Anti-Clamp to grip, try adding some tape to give it a little extra traction.
- Pull that blue handle back to set the Anti-Clamp’s arms free.
- Slide the arms over either side of your iPhone—left or right, your choice.
- Line up the suction cups close to the bottom edge of your phone, one on the front and one on the back.
- Give the cups a good squeeze to stick them right where you want.
Step 5
- Slide the blue handle forward to lock those arms in place.
- Rotate the handle a full 360 degrees clockwise, or until you see the cups start to stretch.
- Keep an eye on the suction cups—they should stay perfectly lined up. If they start to drift, just loosen them a bit and realign the arms.
Step 6
Take it easy and don’t twist more than a quarter turn at once! Give it a minute between turns for the Anti-Clamp to do its magic. Patience is key, so let the time work for you!
For detailed guidance on utilizing a hair dryer, take a peek at this handy guide.
If the Anti-Clamp isn't creating enough space, give it a bit more heat and twist that handle a quarter turn.
- Set your iPhone on something sturdy—like that hardcover book that's finally useful for more than collecting dust. Keep it hands-free and lying flat; you’ll thank yourself in a minute.
- Blast the bottom edge of your iPhone with a hair dryer until it feels a bit too toasty for comfort. Warm means easier work ahead.
- Hang tight for a minute to let the glue loosen up and give you a nice little gap to work with.
- Once you spot a generous gap, slide an opening pick under the screen’s plastic edge. That’s your cue!
- Skip the next two steps. You’re cruising right along!

Step 7
Keep your hair dryer moving—don’t let it chill in one spot too long!
- Grab a hair dryer or heat gun and warm up the bottom edge of the iPhone for about 90 seconds, or until the screen feels just a bit too toasty to touch.

Step 8
The adhesive keeping the screen tightly sealed is super tough; prying open that first little gap takes some serious elbow grease. If it’s being stubborn, add a bit more heat and gently rock the screen up and down to soften the glue until you can slip your tool in easily.
- Grab a suction handle and stick it to the bottom edge of your phone, but steer clear of the glass's outer edge.
- With steady and firm pressure, lift up on the suction cup to create a tiny gap between the screen and the frame.
- Slide an opening pick into that gap beneath the screen's plastic bezel.

Step 9
- Grab your trusty hair dryer and give the right edge of your iPhone (that's where the power button hangs out) a warm hug for about 90 seconds. You want it to be just warm enough that it feels a bit too toasty for your fingers!

Step 10
Keep your pick to a maximum of 3 mm, or you might accidentally poke something you shouldn't!
- Gently glide the opening pick around the bottom right corner of your iPhone to break that adhesive seal. You've got this!
- Keep sliding up along the right edge of the iPhone until you reach the top right corner. Almost there!
- Once you hit the top right corner, just leave the pick in place for now and take a breather.
Step 11
- Grab that trusty hair dryer and give the top edge of your iPhone a warm hug for about 90 seconds, or until it feels just a touch too hot to handle. You're doing great!

Step 12
Be careful not to push your pick in deeper than 3 mm, or you might accidentally tickle the top sensors!
- Glide your opening pick around the top right corner of your iPhone to loosen the sticky adhesive up there.
- Let the pick chill in the top left corner before moving on.
Step 13
- Grab your hair dryer and warm up the left edge of your iPhone for about 90 seconds—just until the screen feels a little too toasty to touch.

Step 14
Hey there! Just a heads-up, there are some fragile cables hanging out along the left side of your iPhone. So, steer clear of inserting your pick here to avoid any accidental cable damage. You've got this!
Step 15
Gently twist that device, taking your time to work your magic.
If the adhesive is being stubborn, a little heat on the left edge can do wonders!
- Slide in a second opening pick at the bottom left corner of your iPhone.
- Give both picks a gentle twist at the same time until the left edge clips pop free.
Step 16
Hold your horses on fully separating that display! There are some delicate ribbon cables still doing their thing, connecting it to the iPhone's logic board.
- Take the suction handle off the screen—it's time to move on!
- Rotate your iPhone so the right side is facing you, like you're preparing for an awesome flip.
- Gently swing the display up from the right, just like opening a book (no need to rush, you got this!).
- Prop the display up with something to keep it steady while you work—just a little break for the phone.
- When putting things back together, start by laying the display back in place. Align the top clips first, and then carefully press the top edge down before snapping the rest into place. If it's being stubborn, double-check the clips around the edge to make sure they're not bent out of shape.

Step 17
As you work through the repair, keep an eye on each screw, and make sure it goes back exactly where it belongs. This helps avoid any potential hiccups and keeps your iPhone in top shape!
- Grab your trusty Y000 screwdriver and get ready to tackle those three 1.3 mm screws holding the battery connector cover in place. You've got this!
- Now, before you seal everything up, why not power on your iPhone and give it a little test run? Check that all functions are working smoothly! Just remember to turn your iPhone completely off before diving back into the repair process.
Step 18
- Pop off that battery connector cover and keep it somewhere safe.
Step 19
Be careful not to mess up the black silicone seal around this and other board connections. These little guys are key to keeping moisture and dust out, adding an extra layer of protection where it counts.
- Grab your trusty spudger or a clean fingernail and gently lift the battery connector out of its cozy home on the logic board.
- Give the connector a little bend away from the logic board to keep it from accidentally reconnecting and powering up your phone while you work your magic.
Tools Used
Step 20
- Gently use the sharp end of a spudger or your clean fingernail to lift the display connector out of its socket on the logic board.
- When reconnecting press connectors like this one, line it up carefully and press down on one side until you hear a click, then do the same on the other side. Avoid pressing in the middle to prevent bending pins, which could cause permanent damage.

Step 21
- Grab your Y000 screwdriver and carefully take out the two 1.1 mm screws holding down the front sensor connector cover.
- Next, switch to a Phillips screwdriver to remove the last two screws securing the cover:
- One screw sized 1.5 mm
- One screw sized 1.8 mm
Step 22
- Carefully lift off the cover protecting the front sensor connector.
Step 23
- Grab the spudger and gently pop off the front sensor assembly cable connector—like you’re unplugging tiny headphones!

Step 24
- Take off the screen with care.
- If you're looking to replace the waterproof adhesive around the display edges, now’s your moment! Pause here, and get that sticky stuff swapped out before moving forward.
Step 25
- Grab your trusty Phillips driver and take out the four 1.5 mm screws holding down the loudspeaker:
- There are two screws with bigger heads
- And two with smaller heads
Step 26
- Gently slide an opening pick between the top edge of the Taptic Engine and the adhesive-backed strip. Take it slow and steady—you got this!
Step 27
- Take out the loudspeaker—like pulling off your headphones at the end of a jam session.
Step 28
If your new part is missing the plastic strip at the top of the loudspeaker, just move it over from the old one. It’s a simple swap—like changing hats!
- Carefully use your fingers to peel the sticky strip off the loudspeaker—easy does it!
Step 29
- Before you dive in, make sure to give your new replacement part a good comparison with the original—don't forget to swap any leftover components or peel off those pesky adhesive backings before getting started!
- To put everything back together, just retrace your steps in reverse—easy peasy!
