iPhone 14 Pro Max Loudspeaker Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 25 Steps
Hey there! Just a quick heads up: make sure to drain that battery down to below 25% before diving into your device disassembly. Safety first, right?
Ready to swap out the loudspeaker in your iPhone 14 Pro Max? This guide walks you through each step using the A2894 (international) model—other versions might look a little different, but the process is basically the same. For a smooth and safe repair, make sure your battery is under 25% before you dive in. Accidentally poked the battery or noticed it's puffed up? Be extra cautious. You’ll also want fresh adhesive on hand to seal your screen back up when you’re done. After the repair, your phone will work fine, though it’ll probably say goodbye to its IP rating. If you get stuck or want a pro to handle it, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 1
- Shut down your iPhone before you start taking it apart.
- Take out the two 6.8 mm-long pentalobe P2 screws located at the bottom edge of the iPhone.
Step 2
Go easy with your opening pick—if it goes in too far, your device could end up with a battle scar. Mark your pick to help keep things safe and stylish.
Jazz things up by marking the other corners of the pick with different measurements. That way, you’ll know exactly where you stand.
Or get creative: tape a coin to your pick—about 3 mm from the tip—for a DIY depth gauge.
- Take a moment to measure 3 mm from the tip and grab a permanent marker to make your mark on the opening pick. You've got this!
Step 3
Pop on some safety glasses—no one wants a surprise glass confetti moment during a repair.
Got a cracked screen? Slap some tape over the glass to keep the shards in check—and your fingers safe from accidental ouchies while you work.
If the suction cup keeps slipping, go MacGyver mode and superglue it right onto the screen.
- Cover the iPhone’s screen with overlapping strips of clear packing tape until the entire front is protected.
- If the suction cup refuses to stick in the upcoming steps, no worries! Fold a sturdy piece of tape (like duct tape) into a little handle and use that to gently lift the screen instead.

Step 4
The next few steps introduce the Anti-Clamp, a nifty tool we designed to make opening your device a whole lot easier. If you're not using the Anti-Clamp, feel free to skip ahead a few steps for an alternative method.
Need a hand with using the Anti-Clamp? No worries, we've got a guide for that too. Check it out for all the details.
If your iPhone's surface is being a little too slick for the Anti-Clamp to get a grip, just stick some tape on it to give it the traction it needs.
- Give that blue handle a gentle tug backward to set the Anti-Clamp's arms free.
- Slide those arms over the left or right edge of your iPhone—whichever feels right!
- Place the suction cups close to the bottom edge of your iPhone—one on the front and one on the back, just like a cozy hug.
- Squeeze the cups together to create a solid suction—let's hold that iPhone in place!
Step 5
- Slide the blue handle forward to lock those mighty arms in place.
- Spin the handle all the way around (yep, a full 360°) or until you see the suction cups start to stretch out.
- Keep an eye on the suction cups—make sure they stay lined up. If they start wandering off, loosen them up a bit and adjust the arms back into position.
Step 6
Take it slow – don't twist more than a quarter turn at a time. Give it a minute to breathe between each twist. Let the Anti-Clamp and time work their magic for you.
Want the lowdown on wielding a hair dryer like a pro? Check out the guide for all the tips.
If the Anti-Clamp isn't giving you enough space, hit the area with a bit more heat and give the handle a quarter turn for that extra boost.
- Prop your iPhone on something solid—like a hardcover book—so it sits hands-free and level. This gives you a stable setup for the next moves.
- Fire up a hair dryer and warm up the bottom edge of the iPhone. The screen should get just a bit hotter than a cozy cup of coffee.
- Give it a minute so the glue can loosen up and create a gap you can work with.
- Once you see that gap, slide an opening pick under the plastic edge of the screen.
- Go ahead and skip the next two steps.

Step 7
Keep that hair dryer moving—parking it in one spot could spell trouble for your device!
If you're rocking a suction handle, get ready to take the next two steps to gently ease that screen free!
- Grab a hair dryer or heat gun and give the bottom edge of your iPhone a nice warm hug for about 90 seconds, or until it's just a tad too hot to touch.
Tools Used
Step 8
The adhesive holding the screen in place is pretty strong, so you'll need to put some muscle into it to create the initial gap. If you're struggling, don't stress – just add a little more heat, gently rock the screen up and down, and with a bit of patience, the adhesive will loosen enough for you to slip in your opening pick.
- Stick a suction handle near the bottom edge of the screen, but steer clear of the very edge of the glass—let's keep it safe!
- Give the suction cup a steady, firm pull upward to gently create a small gap between the screen and the frame.
- Slide an opening pick carefully into the gap beneath the screen's plastic bezel to start your way in.

Step 9
- Grab your trusty hair dryer and warm up the right edge of your iPhone (that's the side with the power button) for about 90 seconds, or until it feels just a tad too hot to handle. Let's get that screen ready for action!

Step 10
Keep your pick to a maximum of 3 mm deep—going too far could accidentally poke something important inside!
- Glide your opening pick around the bottom right corner of your iPhone to loosen up that sticky adhesive.
- Keep cruising up the right edge until you hit the top right corner—smooth moves!
- Pause and leave the pick chilling in the top right corner before you roll on to the next step.
Step 11
- Grab your hair dryer and warm up the top edge of your iPhone for about a minute and a half, or until it feels a bit too toasty to touch.
Tools Used
Step 12
Keep your pick shallow—no deeper than 3 mm—to avoid bumping into those delicate top sensors.
- Slide your pick under the top right corner of the phone, then glide it smoothly around the corner and halfway along the top edge, stopping just before you reach the earpiece speaker cut-out.
Step 13
- Grab a hair dryer and gently warm up the left edge of your iPhone for about 90 seconds, or until the screen feels just a little too toasty to keep your finger on it comfortably.
Tools Used
Step 14
Be careful when working along the left edge of your iPhone—there are some fragile cables hiding there. It's best not to stick your pick in this area, or you might end up with a mess to clean up.
Step 15
Ease into the twisting motion—no need to rush.
If the adhesive is being stubborn, give the left edge another round of heat.
- Slide in a second opening pick at the bottom left corner of your iPhone, just like you’re sliding into a cozy booth at your favorite diner.
- Now, give both picks a little twist together until those left edge clips are ready to let loose!
Step 16
No makeshift screen prop? Your suction handle can moonlight as a stand and keep things steady while you work.
- Turn your iPhone so the right side is facing you.
- Open it up by swinging the screen up from the right edge, just like flipping the front cover of a book.
- Prop the screen up against something sturdy to keep it steady while you work on your phone.
- When putting it back together, position the screen, line up the clips along the top edge, and gently press that top edge into place before snapping the rest down. If it doesn’t click in smoothly, double-check the clips around the screen edges to make sure none are bent or misaligned.

Step 17
Keep a close eye on every screw during this repair and make sure each one finds its way back to the exact spot it came from—your iPhone will thank you for it!
- Grab your trusty Y000 screwdriver and start removing those eight screws holding the battery connector cover in place:
- Before sealing your iPhone back up, it’s a great idea to power it on and check that everything is working as it should. Just remember to turn it off completely before diving back into the repair!
- Six screws that are 1.3 mm long
- One screw that’s 1.6 mm long
- One screw that’s 1.9 mm long
Step 18
- Grab that connector cover with your trusty tweezers and slide it down like it’s heading out for a stroll—just enough to clear those flex cables.
- Lift away the connector cover and celebrate your progress!

Step 19
Be careful not to mess up the black silicone seal around this and other board connections. These little guys are the unsung heroes, keeping water and dust from crashing the party inside your device.
- Grab the pointy end of your spudger and gently pop the battery connector straight up from its socket—no wrestling required.
- Tilt the connector away from the logic board like you’re keeping two exes apart at a party. This keeps the phone from randomly powering up while you’re working your magic.

Step 20
- Grab your trusty spudger and use the pointed end to carefully disconnect the first display cable. Just pry that connector straight up from its socket like a pro!
- When it’s time to re-attach, align those connectors with care! Press down gently on one side until you hear that satisfying click, then do the same for the other side. Avoid pressing down in the middle – we don’t want any bent pins causing trouble. If things get tricky, remember, you can always schedule a repair!

Step 21
- Grab your trusty spudger and use the pointed end to gently pry the second display cable connector straight up from its socket. It's like a little dance—just be careful not to pull too hard!

Step 22
- Take off the screen carefully.
- Clean the spots that need it with isopropyl alcohol (>90%), then slap on some fresh adhesive where it's needed.
- When putting everything back together, stop here if you want to swap out the screen adhesives.
Step 23
- Grab your Phillips driver and take out the four 1.5 mm screws holding the loudspeaker in place:
- Three screws with smaller heads
- One screw with a bigger head
Step 24
- Grab the flat end of your spudger and gently pop up the loudspeaker from the bottom right corner of the phone. A little wiggle goes a long way!

Step 25
- Check out your new part next to the old one—sometimes you’ll need to peel off adhesive or move remaining bits over before popping it in.
- Time to put your device back together: just walk the steps backwards and you’re golden.
- Recycle old parts the smart way—drop them at an R2 or e-Stewards certified spot.
