iPhone 15 Pro Max Back Glass Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 19 Steps
Ready to tackle that cracked or shattered back glass on your iPhone 15 Pro Max? You've come to the right spot! Just a heads up: if you're rocking iOS 18 or later, you can easily pair new, genuine rear glass parts with the help of Apple's Repair Assistant. Don't forget, you'll also need some replacement back glass adhesive to get everything secured. Let's get started on this repair adventure together!
Step 1
Let your phone's battery drop below 25%—a fully charged lithium-ion battery can be a bit of a drama queen when it comes to safety!
- Disconnect any cables plugged into your phone.
- Press and hold the power button along with either volume button, then slide to turn off your phone.
Step 2
Ensure you have a nice, smooth patch near the bottom edge that's spacious enough for a suction cup to cling on. Let's get that phone ready for some TLC!
- If your screen or back glass is seriously cracked, slap some overlapping strips of packing tape over it to keep things together and protect your fingers while you work.

Step 3
Hey there! Just a friendly reminder: if you push that opening pick in too deep, it might not end well for your device. So, let’s keep it safe by marking your pick first.
Feel free to add some flair by marking the other corners of the pick with a variety of measurements. It’s both useful and fun!
If you want a quick hack, just tape a coin to your pick about 3 mm from the tip. Easy peasy!
- Take a moment to measure out 3 mm from the tip, and give your opening pick a little mark with a permanent marker. You're making progress already!
Step 4
- Grab your trusty P2 pentalobe driver and let's get those two 7.2 mm-long screws on either side of the charging port out of there! You've got this!
Step 5
Heads up! Keep the phone from getting too toasty—batteries and heat are not best friends and can cause damage.
- Grab a hair dryer or heat gun and warm up the bottom edge of the back glass until it feels nice and toasty to the touch.

Step 6
- Stick a suction handle onto the bottom edge of the back glass.
- Give the handle a firm, steady tug to pop open a little gap between the back glass and the frame.
- Slide the tip of an opening pick into the gap to keep things moving.

Step 7
Careful when slicing the adhesive holding the back glass—you’re cruising close to the wireless charging cable near the volume buttons, so take it slow and steady!
Step 8
Keep your opening pick on the lighter side—no deeper than 5 mm along the bottom edge, okay?
- Glide your pick along the bottom edge, sliding it back and forth to loosen up that adhesive.
- Keep your pick chilling in the bottom left corner so the adhesive doesn’t try any funny business and stick back together.
Step 9
- Warm up the left edge of the back glass until it feels cozy to the touch.
Step 10
Keep your pick shallow—no deeper than 5 mm on the left edge, or you might poke something you didn’t mean to!
- Pop a second pick in just to the left of the first—like you're starting a tiny pick parade.
- Slide this pick up to the top left corner of the back glass to loosen the adhesive along that edge.
- Leave the pick chilling there so the adhesive doesn't sneak back together.
Step 11
- Warm up the top edge of the back glass until it feels hot when you touch it.
Step 12
Keep your pick above the 5 mm mark along the top edge—let's not go diving too deep!
If the top edge of the back glass isn't budging, it might be that those top clips are feeling a bit stubborn. Grab your trusty spudger and gently prod those clips from the sides until they decide to let go.
- Pop a third opening pick into the top left corner of the back glass.
- Gently slide your pick over to the top right corner to loosen the adhesive along the top edge.

Step 13
Keep your pick chill and don’t slide it past the volume up button—otherwise, you might just slice through the wireless charging cable, and that’s a no-go!
- Swing your pick around the top right corner of the back glass—think of it as rounding third base.
- Slide your pick over to the volume up button like a pro.
- Let your pick chill here to keep the sticky stuff from closing back up.
Step 14
- Warm up the right edge of the back glass until it feels nice and toasty to your finger.
Step 15
Keep your pick away from the volume down button zone—there’s a sneaky wireless charging cable hanging out there that you don’t want to slice!
- Pop a fourth opening pick in at the bottom edge of the back glass.
- Carefully spin your pick around the bottom right corner of the back glass.
- Slide your pick over to the volume down button like a pro.
Step 16
If the back glass is clinging on like it’s got separation anxiety, circle back and check for any stubborn adhesive or sneaky clips you might've missed.
- Carefully flip open the back glass along the right edge—think of it like turning the page of your favorite book.
- Prop the back glass against a box or something sturdy to avoid stressing out the cable. No cable acrobatics today!
Step 17
- Grab your tri-point Y000 driver and carefully take out the 1.0 mm screw holding down the wireless charging connector cover.
- Next, use some tweezers to gently slide the cover out from its spot on the logic board and set it aside.

Step 18
When reconnecting a press connector, line it up over the socket, press down gently on one side until you hear a click, then do the same on the other side. Easy does it—no need to wrestle with it!
- Gently slide the point of your opening pick under the wireless charging coil press connector to lift it up and disconnect it. You've got this!
Step 19
- Put your phone back together by reversing the steps you just followed. Easy peasy!
- If you swapped out a part, you might get to calibrate it with Apple’s Repair Assistant (check for iOS 18). Just update your device, pop into Settings→General→About→Parts & Service History, hit Restart & Finish Repair, and let the prompts guide you.
- When it’s time to say goodbye to old parts, take them to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler—they know how to give your e-waste a proper send-off.
