Step 1
– Let’s get to it! First up, grab your trusty screwdriver and tackle those 10 screws holding the lower case of your MacBook Pro 13″ Unibody in place. You got this!
Step 2
– Gently lift the lower case and nudge it towards the back of the computer to release those pesky mounting tabs.
Step 3
Just a heads up! It’s a smart move to unplug the battery connector from the logic board to keep things safe and sound from any electrical surprises.
– Grab your trusty spudger and gently lift that battery connector right out of its cozy little socket on the logic board. You’ve got this!

Step 5
Be sure to gently pull the connector parallel to the logic board’s surface and toward the optical drive, rather than yanking it straight up from its socket. You’ve got this!
– Gently tug the camera cable’s male end straight out of its socket, like you’re giving it a little high-five!
Step 6
– Carefully guide the camera data cable out of the channel in the optical drive.
Step 7
– Time to get your tools ready! Start by unscrewing the following screws:
– Gently slide the camera cable bracket out from beneath the subwoofer and lift it away from the computer.
Step 8
– Grab that nifty plastic pull tab attached to the display data cable lock and give it a little twist towards the DC-In side of the computer.
– Now, gently pull the display data cable connector straight out from its socket.
– Remember, it’s all about the angle! Pull it straight out, not up, to keep everything safe and sound.
Step 9
– Let’s get started! First, unscrew those two little screws that are holding the display data cable bracket snugly to the upper case. You’ve got this!
– Now, gently lift that display data cable bracket out of the upper case. Easy peasy!
Step 10
If you’ve got one, gently peel off that little strip of foam tape hanging out by the display screws near the display data cable. It’s just a small step, but it makes a big difference!
Step 11
– Go ahead and take out those two outer 6.5 mm T8 Torx screws that are keeping each of the two display brackets snug against the upper case—yep, that’s 4 screws in total. You’ve got this!
Step 12
– First things first, open up your MacBook so that the display stands nice and tall, forming a right angle with the upper case. You’ve got this!
– Now, gently place your opened MacBook on a table just like the one in the picture. Look at that setup!
– With your left hand, keep a firm yet gentle grip on the display and upper case together. Now, let’s tackle that last pesky 6.5 mm T8 Torx screw from the lower display bracket and remove it like a pro!
Step 13
Keep a steady grip on the display and upper case with your left hand. If you let go, you might just send those components on a free fall adventure, and nobody wants that!

Step 14
– With your right hand, gently grab the upper case and give it a slight twist towards the top of the display, making sure the upper display bracket smoothly clears the edge of the upper case.
– Now, carefully rotate the display a little away from the upper case.
Step 15
– Gently lift the display away from the upper case, keeping an eye out for any pesky brackets or cables that might try to tag along.
Step 16
Keep that heat gun pointed away from the soft rubber strip around the display glass! If you heat up the rubber, it might just melt a little, changing from a nice matte finish to a shiny gloss. And let’s be real, nobody wants to deal with rubber that’s lost its shape—touching it when it’s too hot can make it all wobbly and misshapen. So, play it cool and keep it safe!
Alright, let’s get this party started! In the upcoming steps, you’ll be using a heat gun to gently warm up the adhesive that’s holding the snazzy outer black border around the back of the front glass panel to the display. You can spot the adhesive area highlighted in red in the second picture.
Now, don’t be alarmed if you see a bit of condensation forming on the inside of the glass panel or the outside of the LCD due to the heat. It’s totally normal! Once you’ve successfully separated the glass from the display, just grab some glass cleaner to wipe it away and you’ll be all set.
Step 17
Avoid placing the suction cup right on top of the rubber strip around the display glass. Let’s keep it smooth and easy!
Let’s get those suction cups on! Start by placing the suction cup with the movable handle lined up with the glass panel. Give it a gentle press against the glass, then lift that movable handle until it’s parallel with the other one. You’ve got this!
If you notice that only the top edge of the glass is lifting (like in that third picture), just repeat the first two steps until you can lift that corner up. Keep at it; you’ll be popping that panel off in no time!
– Now that you’ve warmed up the panel, grab a sturdy suction cup and place it near the upper right corner of that display glass.
– Gently and gradually lift the corner of the display glass away from the display assembly.
Step 18
– Start by gently lifting one corner of the display glass just enough to slide in a spudger between it and the display assembly. You’ve got this!
– Next up, take the flat end of that trusty spudger and carefully pry up the adhesive that’s holding the front glass in place. Easy does it!
– Now, give the glass panel a little nudge a few inches away from the upper right corner, moving along the top and right edges of the display. Keep going, you’re almost there!
Step 19
Consider grabbing a guitar pick or any slim plastic tool to keep that upper right corner of the front glass panel from making a sticky comeback to the display assembly. It’s a little trick that can make a big difference!
– Grab your trusty heat gun and gently warm up that adhesive hiding under the black strip on the right side of the front glass panel.
– Now, it’s time to make friends with a suction cup—stick it on the right side of the front glass panel.
– Give that glass panel a gentle tug while using the flat end of a spudger to help it break free from the display assembly.
– Keep at it along the right edge of the front display glass until it’s happily separated from the display.
Step 20
– Grab your trusty heat gun and gently warm up that adhesive hiding under the black strip at the top of the glass display panel. It’s like giving it a cozy hug!
– Next, place a suction cup close to the top edge of the glass display panel and give it a little tug to lift that glass panel off. You got this!
– Now, as you work your way along the top edge of the glass panel, carefully use the flat end of a spudger to help separate any stubborn adhesive if needed. Take your time, and let the magic happen!
Step 21
Once you’ve gently pried the upper left corner away from the display, consider grabbing a guitar pick or a similar slim plastic tool to keep that glass from snuggling back down to the display assembly. You’ve got this!
– Grab your trusty heat gun and give that adhesive under the black strip at the upper left corner of the glass display panel a little warmth to loosen it up.
– Next, pop a suction cup right near that same corner of the glass display panel.
– Now, gently pull up on the suction cup while using the flat end of a spudger to carefully nudge the glass display panel away from the display assembly. You’ve got this!
Step 22
– Warm things up a bit with a heat gun or hair dryer to loosen that pesky adhesive hiding under the black strip on the left side of the front glass panel.
– Now, grab a suction cup and stick it on the left side of the front glass panel.
– Gently pull up on the glass panel while using the flat end of a spudger to work it free from the display assembly.
– Keep going along the left edge of the front display glass until it pops free from the display.
Step 23
If needed, grab the flat end of a spudger to gently release the bottom edge of the glass display panel from the display assembly. You’ve got this!
– Alright, you’ve got the top, left, and right edges of the glass all free and clear! Now, gently lift the top edge of the glass panel and give it a little twist to pop it out of the display. Easy peasy!
– Before you put everything back together, take a moment to give both the inside of the glass display panel and the LCD a good clean. Trust us, any dust or fingerprints hiding in there will be like an unwelcome guest when you turn the machine on!

Step 24
If you’re sticking with the original glass, feel free to breeze past this step!
– Slide the edge of your trusty plastic opening tool between the display glass and the camera bracket, then gently glide it around the bracket to give it a little nudge away from the glass.
– And hey, don’t forget to stick that camera bracket onto the new front display glass before you put everything back together!
Step 25
As you tackle the glass removal, keep an eye out for the camera cable—it might just decide to cling to the adhesive on the glass panel and disconnect from the camera board when you lift it. If your camera cable is still happily connected to the camera board, feel free to skip this step!
– Alright, let’s get that cable back in action! Start by using the tip of your trusty spudger to gently peel away the foam tape that’s covering the camera cable ZIF socket.
– Next up, give that ZIF cable retainer a little flip with your spudger to open it up and make way for the camera cable.
– Now, slide the camera cable into its cozy spot on the camera board. Once it’s snug, use the spudger to snap down the ZIF cable retainer and secure the cable in place like a pro.
– Finally, don’t forget to put the piece of tape back over the camera cable socket to keep everything nice and tidy!
