Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 8 Steps

Revive your old MacBook by giving it a fresh set of feet! It’s an easy way to bring some pep back into its step. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

Step 1

– Take a deep breath and get ready to tackle this! First up, let’s unscrew those ten screws you see there.

Step 2

– Gently wiggle your fingers to lift the lower case away from the MacBook’s body, right by the vent. It’s like giving your device a little love tap!

– Now, go ahead and remove that lower case like a pro.

Step 3

– Say goodbye to any broken or damaged feet—it’s time for them to go!

– Check for any sneaky little bits from the old foot that might have gotten cozy in the foot hole and remove those too.

– Grab some tweezers and gently peel off that old adhesive tape from the foot pad—let’s make room for the new!

Step 4

– Give that foot pad a good scrub with some adhesive remover to wipe away any leftover sticky stuff.

Step 5

– Give that foot pad a good wipe with an alcohol prep pad to kick any leftover cleaner residue to the curb!

Step 6

– Carefully peel a fresh foot off the plastic backing.

Step 7

– Get that new foot snugly positioned inside the foot pad!

– Ensure the alignment nub on the foot is perfectly matched up with the tiny hole near the edge of the pad.

– Gently place the foot down while keeping everything in line.

– Take a peek from the inside of the lower case to check that everything’s lined up just right. Use some tweezers to nudge the alignment nub so it fits neatly with the hole.

Step 8

– Give that new foot a solid press with your finger and hold it down for 30 seconds to let the pressure-sensitive adhesive do its magic. Don’t forget to support the other side of the cover while you give it a good push.

– Got more broken or damaged feet? No problem! Just repeat those last six steps to get everything back in shape.
