Bring the groove back to your laptop by swapping out those speakers! If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 2
– Whip out your Phillips screwdriver and unscrew the trio of identical screws holding the memory door in place. Let’s make this device feel brand new!
Step 3
– Gently lift the memory door just enough to get a good grip on it, then slide it toward yourself and pull it away from its cozy casing.
Step 4
– Unscrew the two 2.8 mm Phillips head party-starters located in the battery compartment near the latch. Let’s keep it groovy!
Step 5
– Alright, it’s time to unscrew the magic! Take out these 6 screws:

– Unscrew the four 3.2 mm Phillips screws chillin’ on the port side of the computer.
Step 7
– Twist your computer by a cool 90 degrees and unscrew the two super tiny 3.2 mm Phillips screws at the back. Easy peasy!
Step 8
– Flip your computer over for another 90-degree spin and carefully take out those four 3.2 mm Phillips screws on the side. You’ve got this!
Step 9
Hold your horses! Don’t whip off the upper case like you’re in a rodeo. Remember, it’s still tethered to the logic board with a ribbon cable.
– Start at the back of the case, gently lifting and easing your fingers along the sides to loosen it. Continue to work your way around, and you might need to give it a little wiggle up and down to detach the front part of the upper case. Watch out for those sneaky hidden clips that need a good click to release!
Step 10
– Unplug the trackpad and keyboard ribbons from the motherboard, peeling off any tape that’s in your way.
– Go ahead and lift off the upper case.

– Unplug the sassy orange SuperDrive ribbon cable from the logic board, peel off any tape if it’s getting in the way.

– Unscrew the following 4 screws:

– Hoist that optical drive right out of its cozy nest in the computer. Like lifting a crown from a pillow!

– Unplug the hard drive and ExpressCard connectors from the left side of the logic board—like a boss!
Step 15
– Unplug those iSight and display data cables from the logic board by gently sliding them out of their connectors. Don’t forget to peel off any tape that’s in the way!

– Unplug the eight connectors shown here by sliding a spudger underneath each cable and gently popping them up.

– Unscrew the shiny silver T6 Torx screw that keeps the ground loop of the display data cable attached to the casing.
Step 18
– Unscrew the single T6 Torx screw that’s keeping the clear plastic shield in place over the right ambient light sensor. You’re doing great!
– Now, gently lift off the clear plastic shield from the right ambient light sensor. Awesome job!
Step 19
– Gently lift the orange Kapton tape that’s keeping the right thermal sensor cable cozy on the logic board.
Step 20
– Time to unscrew the magic! You’ll find 15 screws waiting to be liberated. Let’s get twisting!
Step 21
– Press down on the logic board with one hand, and with your other hand, give the left fan a gentle lift from its cozy spot. Watch out for that sneaky piece of black tape clinging to the heat sink—peel it off gently as you raise the fan.
– Just pop the fan right above the Airport card—no need to yank it out completely. Keep it chill and keep it close!

– Gently hoist up the left side of the logic board and unplug the snazzy gray and black power cable from its cozy spot at the bottom of the board.

Alright, let’s get your MacBook Pro back in tip-top shape! You’ll need to clean off that old thermal paste and slap on some fresh goo. Check out our groovy Guide to Applying Thermal Paste to get those processor and heat sink surfaces ready to rock.
– Grab the logic board on the left and at the skinny part, then twist it out of the lower case like you’re unveiling a surprise.

– Grab the heat sink and give it a gentle lift out of the computer. You got this!

– Gently lift and detach the left ambient light sensor cable from above the left fan, peeling away any tape that’s in the way.
– Take out the left fan from the device.

– Unplug the trio of antenna cables from the Airport Extreme card.
– Apple dropped a handy label to show where each colorful antenna cable goes – just take a peek at it when you’re plugging them back in.

– Unhook those Airport antenna cables from their groove in the left speaker, and let them fly free!

– Alright, let’s dive in! Start by zapping out that lone black T6 Torx screw chilling just above the Airport Extreme card.
– Next, gently hoist that nifty little silver metal bracket out of its cozy spot in the computer.

– Hoist the Airport Extreme card upward and shimmy it right out of its snug home base.

– Gently lift the vibrant orange hard drive cable from atop the ExpressCard cage.

– Unplug the speaker cable from the left I/O board corner with a flair. You’re doing great!

– Gently lift off the black adhesive tape that’s keeping the speaker cable snug against the back edge of the lower case. It’s like unwrapping a little present!

– Keep on liberating that speaker cable from the clutches of the black tape until it’s totally free from all three sticky sections.

– Unscrew the lone, sleek black T6 Torx screw that’s keeping the right speaker snug against the lower case. It’s just one screw, you got this!
Step 37
– Unscrew the lone shiny Phillips screw that’s keeping the clear plastic shield in place over the left ambient light sensor. It’s just one screw, you got this!
– Gently lift away the clear plastic shield from the left ambient light sensor. Easy does it!
Step 38
– Grab your spudger and gently pop out the left ambient light sensor board from its cozy spot on the left speaker.
– Hang tight—the speakers are still in place!
