MaxWest TAB-7360DC Screen Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 9 Steps
Step 1
– Start by gently sliding a plastic opening tool into the corner of the screen, right between the back case and the front. Be gentle – you’re just easing it in there!
– Heads up: the volume buttons might just pop out while you’re at it. No worries, they’ll be easy to put back.
– When you open the case, keep the I/O ports facing you. Turn the back case to the right, and remember – there’s a delicate little wire connecting the speaker to the logic board, so don’t yank it out!
Step 2
– Gently lift the tape from the battery, the chip in the bottom left, and the ribbon cable near the bottom right of the board. There’s a small, shiny silver square in the bottom left—pop that loose and untape it too.
– The battery is stuck to the back of the screen with some glue, so go slow and steady as you peel it off. It’ll put up a fight, but that’s totally normal.
Step 3
– Time to get those cables untangled! Gently release the data cable retainers and carefully pull the wires out of their junctions.
– Now, let’s get that tape off! Peel it away from the wire near the bottom of the case.
Step 4
– Let’s kick things off by taking out those two 4mm screws (highlighted in cheerful orange) using your trusty 00 Phillips head driver.
– Next up, gently unclip the black plastic retainer hanging out by the data port. With that done, the PCB should slide right off like a charm!
Step 5
Be careful not to touch both the black and red leads with your soldering iron at the same time – that’s a shock you don’t want!
– Gently touch the hot tip of the soldering iron to the battery terminals for a few seconds while carefully pulling the wire away. You’ve got this!
Tools Used
Step 6
– Grab the gray part of the ribbon clamps with your trusty tweezers and gently pull them away from the ribbons – it’s like setting them free!
– Now that the ribbons are unclamped, you can slide them out with ease. You’re making great progress!
Step 7
– Grab the motherboard and gently set it down next to the battery—nice and easy, like you’re giving it a comfy spot to chill.
Step 8
– Grab your trusty plastic prying tool and gently nudge that metallic surface upwards. It’s all good—anywhere you start works like a charm!
– Take your time and glide the prying tool all along the edges of the screen. Once you feel it’s all loose and ready to go, lift that screen with ease!
Step 9
– Take out the screen and set it aside for now, we’ll get back to it later.
