Nexus 6 Headphone Jack Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 5 Steps
Once you’ve popped open that phone casing like a pro, it’s time to say goodbye to the old headphone jack and bring in the new! This guide is your go-to when your headphone jack has seen better days and needs a little TLC.
Step 1
– Grab a SIM card eject tool (or get creative with a paperclip—it works like a charm!), then gently press into the hole at the top of the phone until the SIM card tray pops out. You won’t need to channel Hulk-level strength here, just a light push will do!
– Slide out the SIM card and its tray like a pro—easy peasy!

Step 2
Heads up! Watch out for the Power & Volume Key ribbon hanging out on the left, right next to the volume key. It’s out in the open and could snag or get nicked by your opening tool—handle it like a pro!
You might want to grab an iOpener to help break the bond of the adhesive. Take a look at the iOpener Instructions if you need a hand with how to use it!
– Spread out a soft cloth on your workspace to keep that screen safe and scratch-free for this step and beyond.
– Grab your trusty soft plastic opening pick and gently work it around to pop open the back casing.
– Carefully separate the back casing from the rest of the phone using your hands. Heads up—since the casing is glued on, you might need to apply a bit of muscle here. Don’t worry if the casing bends slightly, it’s all part of the process!
Step 3
– Grab your trusty T3 Torx Screwdriver and tackle those twenty-two 2.3 mm T3 Torx screws like a pro! You’ve got this!

Step 4
– Grab your trusty tweezers and carefully pluck out the rubber protector located on the lower part of the phone. Easy peasy!
– Using a spudger, gently pop up the battery connector on the side opposite the cable. Just a little nudge will do the trick!
– Separate the battery side from the motherboard side by giving them a gentle pull apart with your hands. Take it slow and steady—you’re almost there!
Step 5
– To put everything back together, just work your way through these steps in reverse – easy peasy!
