This part can be a bit tricky, but don’t worry, you’ve got this! If the hook on the front panel is being stubborn, you can try to pry all the hooks off. Just be careful, as they can break easily. Remember, it’s all part of the process, and you’re doing great!
– First up, let’s tackle that top hook! Give the one on the far right a little unlatch and gently lift the front panel just a smidge while applying some pressure.
– Next, it’s time to slide in your trusty plastic opening tool into the marked area to unlatch the second hook on the right side. You’ve got this!
– Now, slide that panel to the left and watch as the rest of the hooks pop free. Easy peasy!
Step 6
– Press down the tab on the right side of your device and gently slide the back panel to the left to get it off. It’s like giving your device a little hug and a nudge – you’ll be in there in no time!
Step 7
– Grab your Phillips #1 screwdriver and unscrew those five silver screws, each about 20.8mm long.
– Next, use your T-8 security screwdriver to remove the two black screws, each 9.9mm long, hiding in the disc reader.

When you’re unplugging the cable, make sure to grab the plastic connector, not the wires. Keep it cool and gentle, and you’ll do great!

– Next up, it’s time to remove the power supply unit, a crucial step in getting your device back up and running smoothly.
Step 10
– Gently lift up and unplug the front white flex-ribbon cable—it’s like pulling a plug from a socket, but with a touch of finesse.
– Now, tackle the black and blue flex-ribbon cable behind it. Flip up the black tab with care, then slide the cable out like a pro!
Step 11
– First, flip your device upside down – literally! Rotate it 180 degrees to get started.
– Next, gently pull the back white flex-ribbon cable upwards from its base to remove it. Easy peasy!
– Now it’s time to say goodbye to the optical drive. Remove it and set it aside.
