Step 8
– Give that computer a cool 90-degree spin once more and kick it up a notch by unscrewing the fab four Phillips screws from the side of the computer!
Step 9
Take it easy when removing the upper case! It’s connected to the logic board with a ribbon cable, so give it a gentle touch.
– Gently lift up from the back of the case and slide your fingers along the edges, loosening it as you go. Once the sides are free, you might need to wiggle the case a bit to release the front of the upper part. This step can be a bit of a puzzle! Over the DVD reader, there are 4 tabs that need to be pulled out vertically.
– Heads up: The two little tongues on the left front of the upper case might bend while you’re removing it. When putting it back, you may need to gently bend them back to fit into the grooves in the lower case. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 10
– Unplug the trackpad and keyboard ribbon cable from the logic board. You might have to dance around a bit of tape to get it done!
– Whisk away the upper case like you’re performing a magic trick!
Step 11
– Unplug the right fan cable from the logic board with style. You’re doing great!
Step 12
– Lift up the zesty orange Kapton tape that’s keeping those right speaker cables snug above the right fan.
Step 13
– Time to get your tools out! Unscrew those three shiny T6 Torx screws that are holding the right fan snugly to the logic board and lower case. You’ve got this!
