Step 1

– First things first, let’s unplug all those cables and power down your phone completely. Give it a little nap!

– Now, press and hold the power button along with the volume down button at the same time. This will bring up the shutdown menu. You got this!

– Warm up an iOpener and press it against the right edge of the back cover for a solid two minutes. You’ve got this!

– The back cover is glued down tight around the edge of the frame.

– Stick a suction handle on the back cover, as close to the middle of the right side as you can get.

– Pull up on the suction handle with some good, steady force to create a gap between the cover and frame.

– Slide an opening pick into the gap.

– Glide your opening pick along the right edge, sliding it between the back cover and frame to cut through the adhesive.

– Leave your opening pick chilling in the bottom right corner to keep the adhesive from sticking back together.

Step 6

– Give your iOpener a quick reheat and then place it on the bottom of the back cover for a solid two minutes. You’re doing great!

Step 7

– Pop in another opening pick at the bottom right corner and glide it along the bottom edge to cut through that sticky adhesive like a pro.

– Keep your opening pick snug in the bottom left edge to stop the adhesive from sealing back up. You’ve got this!

– Warm up your iOpener and place it on the left side of the back cover for a cozy two minutes.

Step 9

– Grab another opening pick and slide it through the bottom left corner. Glide it along the left edge to cut through the adhesive.

– Keep your opening pick in the top left corner to stop the adhesive from sticking again.

Step 10

– Warm up your iOpener again and place it on the top of the back cover for a couple of minutes.

Step 11

– Pop another opening pick into the top left corner at the same depth, and slide it along the top edge to cut through the adhesive.

– Keep your opening pick in the top right corner to stop the adhesive from sticking back.

Step 12

– Gently slide your opening pick along the top edge of the phone and give it a little twist to release those camera clips.

– Now, take that same pick and glide it around the edges of the camera modules to free up the rest of those clips.

Step 13

– Once the sticky stuff around the edges is feeling loose, gently slide your opening pick deeper into the bottom edge, starting from the bottom left corner.

– Now, keep that pick moving along the bottom edge, carefully cutting through the rest of the adhesive like a pro.

Step 14

– Pop off the back cover.

– As you put things back together:

– Tidy up those adhesive chunks with tweezers or your fingers. Stubborn adhesive? A bit of heat and 90%+ isopropyl alcohol will do the trick.

Step 15

– Grab a SIM card eject tool, a bit, or even a straightened paperclip, and gently insert it into the tiny hole on the SIM tray, which you’ll find near the top of the phone on the left edge.

– Give it a firm press to pop that tray out and then pull it out with ease.

– Let’s get those fifteen 4 mm screws out! They’re holding the frame snugly to the chassis, so grab your trusty screwdriver and let’s make it happen!

– Grab your trusty spudger and gently pop up that fingerprint button press connector from the motherboard. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair

– Gently slide your opening pick right above the SIM card tray cutout to create a little wiggle room between the frame and your phone.

– Now, glide that pick down the left side of your device to pop open those sneaky frame clips.

– Keep gliding your opening pick around the edge of the phone until every last clip is free. You’ve got this!

– Gently detach the frame from the phone, keeping it nice and straight. You’ve got this!

Step 21

– Grab that trusty flat end of a spudger and gently lift to disconnect the battery press connector from the motherboard. You’ve got this!

– Gently slide the flat end of your trusty spudger under the lip of the top ‘OCTA’ cable connector.

– Carefully lift the top connector away from its buddy below until they’re fully separated.

– Grab your trusty spudger and gently lift up the ‘SUB’ connector from the daughterboard to disconnect it. You’re doing great!

– Grab that trusty spudger and gently wiggle the flat end under the “MAIN” connector on the motherboard. Give it a little lift to disconnect it, and you’re one step closer to success!

– Grab that interconnect cable and gently detach it from your phone. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

Step 26

– Gently slide one arm of your angled tweezers under the metal neck of each antenna coaxial connector on the motherboard and lift straight up to disconnect them. Easy peasy!

– When putting things back together, use those tweezers to hold the connector in position over its socket, then give it a gentle press down with your finger or a spudger. You should hear a satisfying ‘snap’ as it locks in place! If it’s being a bit stubborn, just readjust and give it another go. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

– Grab your trusty Phillips screwdriver and unscrew the 3 mm-long screw that’s holding the motherboard snugly in place. You’ve got this!
