Samsung Galaxy Note8 Back Cover Replacement Guide – DIY Repair

Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 7 Steps

Get ready to give your Galaxy Note8 a brand new look by replacing the back cover. If you’ve got a swollen battery, please be careful and avoid heating your phone. To loosen the adhesive, you can use a dropper or syringe to apply some isopropyl alcohol (90+%) around the edges of the back cover. Remember to wear eye protection and be cautious when dealing with swollen batteries – if you’re not comfortable, consider taking it to a pro or schedule a repair. Keep in mind that opening your phone will affect its waterproof sealing, so make sure to replace the adhesive seals if you want to keep that protection. Your phone will still work just fine without them, but it’s worth taking the extra step. You’ll likely need some replacement adhesive to get the back cover securely attached again. Take your time and follow these steps for a successful repair.

Step 1

– Time to power down your phone, amigo! Hit that power button and say goodbye to the screen for now.

– Grab that iOpener and get ready to loosen up that glue holding the Note8’s back together.

– Pop that iOpener onto the back of the Note8, right along that side where the power button lives. We’re warming things up!

Step 2

– Let’s get started by using a suction handle to carefully lift the back cover and create a gap – just enough space to get your opening pick in.

– Now, begin at the middle of the side and gently cut the adhesive while pulling up with the suction handle. Take your time, it’s a delicate process.

– Next, move the pick towards the bottom corner and leave it there to keep the adhesive from resealing to the case. You’re making great progress!

– Finally, use another pick and move it to the top corner. If you need help or feel unsure, you can always schedule a repair with Salvation Repair.

– Leave the pick at the top right corner to keep everything open – you’re doing a great job, and if you need any help along the way, you can always schedule a repair
