Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 16 Steps

Get ready to give your Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus a new lease on life! Today, we’re going to tackle the battery replacement process. Just a heads-up – opening up your trusty Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus might break those water-resistant seals it’s got. So, make sure to get some fresh adhesive seals to keep everything nice and snug! Before you dive in, remember to let that battery drain below 25%. And hey, if you happen to have a puffed-up battery, please don’t expose it to any heat. Those guys can be quite the troublemakers, so pop on some safety goggles and handle them with care! If you’re feeling unsure, don’t sweat it. You can always play it safe and reach out to a pro for a helping hand. And don’t forget, when it’s time to put everything back together, don’t skimp on that replacement adhesive. See…repairing can be a breeze with a little know-how! Let’s get started!

Step 1

– Turn off your phone to start the repair journey!

– Grab your iOpener and let the magic begin. Place it on the rear glass and let it work its charm for a minimum of two minutes. Feel free to give it a few more goes as you tackle the back cover removal.

Step 2

– Get ready to tackle that back cover! In the next steps, we’ll be cutting through the adhesive that’s holding it in place.

– You’ll want to focus on slicing through the adhesive in the highlighted areas:

Step 3

– Pop that suction cup onto the back cover.

– Lift the bottom edge of the back cover with your suction cup to create a tiny gap between the cover and the frame.

– Slide an opening pick into the gap and move it to the bottom right corner.

Step 4

– Slide in a second opening pick and glide it down to the bottom left corner like a pro.

– Now, pop in a third opening pick at the bottom of the phone. This little buddy will hang out there during the rear glass removal to keep that pesky adhesive from sealing back up.

Step 5

– Begin by gently sliding the tip of your trusty opening pick from the bottom left corner up along the side of your S9 Plus. Think of it as giving your phone a little tickle!

– Once you’ve sliced through the adhesive halfway up the left side of the phone, just let the opening pick chill there for a moment. It’s earned a little break!

– Now, slide that opening pick from the bottom right corner halfway up the frame and let it rest there. It’s like a cozy spot on the couch for your pick!

Step 6

– Pop in a fourth opening pick on the right side of the frame and give it a little slide up to that top right corner.

– Now, slide a fifth opening pick along the left side of the phone all the way up to the top left corner.

– Grab that opening pick and carefully cut through the last bit of adhesive holding the upper part of the rear glass in place.

Step 7

– Gently lift the edge of the rear glass near the volume button, like you’re unveiling a surprise.

– Grab your trusty spudger and carefully pry up to disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable. You’ve got this!

Step 13

– Grab your trusty iOpener and let it work its magic on the adhesive snugly holding the battery in place. Keep it on there for a solid two minutes to loosen things up nicely.

– For the next step, be sure to use the spudger only in the areas highlighted in red, as that’s where the battery adhesive likes to hang out.

– Steer clear of this area! There’s a sneaky gap in the mid-frame right underneath the battery, and we wouldn’t want you accidentally harming the display through it.

Step 14

– Gently slide the flat end of your trusty spudger into the top left corner of the battery, right where that flex cable is hanging out. Give it a little nudge and start prying it up with steady, confident pressure.

– Now, let’s keep the momentum going! Glide down the left side of the battery and work that spudger to loosen up the adhesive. You’re doing great!
